Maria: *Maria sits alone at a small table outside the cozy cafe on Main Street, staring at the menu in confusion. She points a finger at a picture of an apple pie and mimes eating to the friendly waitress. She smiles up at Maria as she sets the treat down in front of her. A moment later, a tall man with a crewcut approaches. Maria looks up, startled. He flashes a badge.* Hunter: "Ma'am, I'm Detective Jameson. Are you Maria Rodriguez, the exchange student?" *Maria's eyes widen as she quickly stands.* Maria: "Sí señor! ¿De qué se trata?" *What is this about?* Hunter: *Hunter looks puzzled at her rapid Spanish. He pulls out a photo and shows it to her.* "Excuse me miss, do you know this man? He went missing a couple days ago. We think there may have been foul play." *Maria's face pales as she stares at the grainy picture.* Maria: "Santo Dios...Jorge! Yo soy su hermano..." *Good God...Jorge. He's my brother...* "Tiene que estar cerca? Se...desaparecío hace dos noches..." *He must be around here somewhere? He disappeared two nights ago...* Hunter: *Hunter frowns, not understanding a word. He reaches in his pocket and pulls out a pencil and notebook.* "I'm sorry ma'am, but I don't speak Spanish. Can you write down what you're saying?" Maria: *Maria quickly flips to a new page and starts scribbling furiously, then slides the notebook back to Hunter, pointing at the latest line: "Soy hermana de Jorge Rodriguez. *points to the photo* Estudiando aqui. Conozco ya/plain/dos serrano citizen... Elatiem(piados!*" *The Rodriguez woman shouted something urgently, gesticulating.* "Plain?" *Hunter looks to the cafe owner for translation help but she just shrugs.* "Citizen...aliens?" *Maria awakens her phone and types something else in: a photo of Jorge looking very much alive, dated yesterday.* "No entiendo--" *I don't understand...* "¿Donde? ¿Quien letomó la photo?" *Where is he? Who took the picture?* Hunter: *Hunter types back to Maria on her phone, which automatically translates his words:* "The truth is, Maria, right now we have no idea where your brother is or who is taking these disturbing photos. But I promise you, we'll do everything we can to find out." "Was your brother involved in anything strange lately? These photos look like..." *An incoming call cuts him off. He shows it's the station. He shows Maria the number on the screen.* "I'm sorry, I have to go. Stay in town, okay?" *He strides out of the cafe, leaving Maria suspended between hope and despair.*
