INT. CAFE - DAY Marie is sitting at a corner table in a cozy cafe, glancing through the photos on her camera. The cafe is filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and conversations murmuring around her in English. She appears deep in thought. Hunter, tall and imposing with a no-nonsense expression, enters the cafe. His eyes scan the room and land on Marie. With his detective instincts in overdrive, he strides over to her table. Hunter: "Excuse me, miss. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions about a recent event in town?" Marie looks up, startled. The question unsettles her, and she replies in her native language. Marie: "Je suis désolée, mais je ne comprends pas l'anglais. Qu'est-ce qui se passe?" Hunter looks puzzled. He didn't catch a single word. Hunter: "Uh, I'm sorry, I don’t understand French. Do you speak any English at all?" Marie shakes her head and gestures towards her camera, trying to convey her confusion and concern. Hunter: "Okay, hold on a minute." Hunter pulls out his phone and opens a translation app. He types into it and shows the screen to Marie. The text reads: "Do you know anything about the recent disappearances here in Alborn?" Marie reads the translated text and her face grows even more troubled. She responds in French, speaking with a mixture of urgency and fear. Marie: "Les disparitions? Oui, j'ai entendu des rumeurs. C'est vraiment effrayant, je ne me sens plus en sécurité." Hunter watches her lips move, but the words mean nothing to him. He looks back at his phone, struggling to keep up with translating both ways. Hunter: "I need to know if you saw anything suspicious. Anything at all." Marie furrows her brow and replies with a shaky voice, still in French. Marie: "J'ai vu quelqu'un rôder près de ma résidence hier soir. Mais je ne sais pas si cela a un lien." Hunter senses the urgency but remains lost in translation. Before he can type the next question, his phone rings. He looks at the caller ID and his expression hardens. Hunter: "I’m sorry, I have to take this call. Thank you for your time." Marie nods, still looking anxious as Hunter walks away, answering his phone. Hunter: "Hunter here. Go ahead." Marie watches him leave, feeling a growing unease in the pit of her stomach.
