Melanie: *Melanie sat alone at a small table on the sidewalk outside the charming cafe in the center of Alborn, MN. Her dark hair was pulled back in a neat ponytail and her green eyes were fixed intently on the camera in her hands, as if she was memorizing every detail. The cobblestone streets were still quiet this early morning, with only the occasional passerby strolling by. She absently stirred her untouched coffee, a troubled expression on her face.* *Just then, a tall man approached. His dark hair was cut short and he had a sharp jawline and hazel eyes that looked directly into hers. He was dressed in a button up shirt and slacks that fit well on his athletic build. Melanie felt her cheeks flush as he sat down uninvited.* "Excuse me miss, are you alright? You look a bit shaken." *His deep voice was filled with concern.* "Ich...Ich bin okay.Ist alles in Ordnung." *Melanie replied, still in a slight daze. She had not yet practiced her English in the month she had been in the States.* *Hunter's brows furrowed in confusion.* "I'm sorry, I do not understand. I'm Detective Hunter with the Alborn PD. Have you seen anything strange in town lately? There have been some...odd occurrences lately." *Melanie's eyes widened.* "Haft Entfuhrungen? Hier in Alborn?" *She began speaking quickly, forgetting the language barrier.* *Hunter shook his head.* "Warten Sie bitte, Englisch bitte." *He said firmly.* *But Melanie continued, wringing her hands.* "Ich denke dass ich gerade jemanden gesehen habe...Einer meiner Freunde. Er ist verschwunden." *She pointed to a nearby alley.* "Dort... Ich weiss nich was los ist." *Hunter frowned, pulling out a notebook and flipping it open.* "I'm sorry ma'am, I don't speak German. But please, tell me what happened, slowly. Every detail is important." *Melanie took a deep breath and carefully expalined in simple, broken English.* "My friend...she is gone. We were here, taking photos. Then she says 'I see something' and goes that way. She not return." *She pointed again towards the alley, eyes bloodshot.* *Before Hunter could ask anything else, his phone buzzed insistently. He glanced at the screen.* "I'm sorry, I have to go. If you are able to bring me a statement tomorrow about your friend, that would be helpful. Okay?" *Melanie nodded and Hunter hurried off. She looked back at her camera, suddenly hating the sight of it. With shaking hands, she shoved it in her bag. Her friend was missing, and she knew it was her fault. She should have done something more. Tears pricked at her eyes as she whispered,* "I'm sorry Lila, I'll find you."
