INT. - SMALL CAFE IN ALBORN, MN - DAY Melanie sits alone at a corner table in the cozy cafe, her camera in hand. She appears deep in thought, occasionally glancing around as if trying to capture the perfect shot in her mind. Hunter enters the cafe, scanning the room before approaching Melanie. Hunter: "Excuse me, miss. I'm Detective Hunter. I noticed you've been around town with that camera of yours. I was hoping you might have seen something unusual lately." Melanie looks up, slightly startled, and responds in German, her voice a mixture of concern and confusion. Melanie: "Entschuldigung, ich verstehe nicht. Ich spreche kein Englisch." Hunter furrows his brow, clearly not understanding, but determined to press on. Hunter: "Hmm, German, huh? I guess we're gonna need to get creative here." (He gestures to himself, then mimics taking photos with his hand.) "Pictures? Anything unusual? Strange?" Melanie seems to understand his intention and nods. She tries to convey what she saw, her words hurried and anxious as she responds in German. Melanie: "Ich habe etwas Seltsames gesehen. Ein Mann... er wirkte sehr nervös. Ich habe ein Foto gemacht, aber es ist verschwommen." Hunter nods, trying to piece together her words. Hunter: "Okay, okay... let's see, strange man, photo, blurry... got it." He pulls out his notepad, jotting down what he inferred. Melanie attempts again, slower this time, miming the camera and pointing out the window. Melanie: "Mann... draußen... seltsames Verhalten." Hunter: "Man outside... acting strange. I think I'm following you. Do you still have the photo?" Melanie nods, visibly relieved that they're somewhat communicating. She picks up her camera, turning it on to show him the blurry image. Hunter: "Great. This could be a piece of the puzzle." Just then, Hunter's phone rings. He holds up a hand to signal he'd be quick. Hunter: "Hang on a sec." He answers the call, steps aside, and after a brief conversation, hangs up. He looks back at Melanie apologetically. Hunter: "I'm sorry, I have to go. But thank you for your help. I'll need to find someone who can interpret better. Can I take your contact information?" Melanie, understanding his urgency, nods and writes down her email. Melanie: "E-Mail... bitte." Hunter takes the paper and smiles, grateful. Hunter: "Danke. That's thank you, right?" Melanie smiles, nodding as he leaves the cafe, feeling a bit more connected in the foreign land.
