The air in the cozy Maple Leaf Café hummed with the murmur of conversation and the clatter of cutlery. Isabella sat tucked into a corner booth, her gaze fixed on her well-worn camera. Images of the rolling hills and quaint houses of Alborn flickered behind her closed eyelids, a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing within. A shadow fell over her table. She looked up, startled, into the intense blue eyes of a man who could have stepped straight out of a classic film noir. He wore a trench coat despite the crisp autumn air and had the strong, unyielding stance of someone used to taking charge. "Excuse me, Miss," the man began, his voice gruff and low, "I was wondering if you could help me." Isabella blinked, her brow furrowing in confusion. She didn't understand a word. "I'm detective Hunter," he said, pulling out a badge that glinted in the café’s warm lighting. "I'm investigating a couple of disappearances here in town. Were you around the old mill last night?" Isabella’s breath caught in her throat. "Il mulino?" she whispered, her voice trembling. "Si, ero vicino ieri sera…" Her tone was urgent, filled with a fear that transcended the language barrier. Hunter frowned, his gaze searching her face. “I’m sorry, I don’t understand. What’s a mulino?" Isabella gestured wildly, her words tumbling out in a rush of Italian, her eyes wide with distress. "L'uomo...disperso! C'era sangue...tanto sangue!" Hunter took a step back, a flicker of alarm crossing his face. "Slow down, ma'am. Slow down." She paused, struggling to control her panic. "L'uomo...the man...he was there. And..." she took a shuddering breath, "and there was blood. So much blood." Hunter’s radio crackled to life, interrupting their strained back-and-forth. “Hunter, we got something. Over by the lake." He grimaced, turning back to Isabella. "I have to go, but I need you to stay right here. We might need to talk to you again." He briefly scanned the room, spotting a waitress. "Can you get this lady some water, please?" Isabella nodded, her fear momentarily eclipsed by a surge of defiance. She wouldn't forget what she had seen, not this time. Hunter disappeared out the door, leaving Isabella alone with her swirling thoughts, the warmth of the café forgotten as a chill settled in her bones. **Voice Sheet:** **Isabella:** * “Il mulino? Si, ero vicino ieri sera…” (The mill? Yes, I was nearby last night…) * "L'uomo...disperso! C'era sangue...tanto sangue!" (The man… disappeared!
