Things are not going well for Detective Hunter James. He's knee-deep in a very strange murder investigation, and he can't seem to catch a break. The victim's family and friends are being tight-lipped about the circumstances leading up to the killing. They insist it must have been a tragic accident or a case of mistaken identity. But Hunter's gut tells him something else is going on. As Hunter broods over a lukewarm coffee at the local diner, an unusual sighting catches his eye - a young Asian woman with a camera, taking photos of the colorful autumn foliage lining Main Street. He doesn't recognize her from around here. Foreign faces are a rarity in tiny Alborn. Hunter approaches, flashing his badge. "Miss, sorry to bother you. I'm Detective James with the Alborn PD. Might I ask what brings you to our little town?" The woman jumps in surprise. She has big dark eyes and long raven hair. "Jeez, detective, you scared the bejeezus out of me!" She turns to face him, camera swinging by its strap. "Ah. Sorry about that." He scans her face, trying to match it to any recent visitors or newcomers. No luck. "I didn't catch your name?" "Selvi. So where's the nearest Starbucks?" She flashes him a bright smile. French accent? Something else. Not familiar. "There isn't one, I'm afraid. We're a long way from the city here." He pauses. "Look, I'm trying to get some information about a homicide we had recently. A man named John Franklin. You wouldn't happen to have taken any photos that could help with the investigation, would you?" Selvi's smile fades. For a moment she looks stricken. Then she lifts her chin defiantly. "I know nothing of this. And even if I did, I am a foreigner here. Your law does not apply to me." She rattles off something in what sounds like Hindi before turning on her heel and stalking off. Hunter curses under his breath as he watches her go. Great. Now he has an uncooperative foreigner with a camera to worry about. This case just keeps getting stranger by the minute. He'll have to run her name and see what he can dig up. If she is hiding information about Franklin's murder, he'll get it out of her one way or another. He didn't get this far by letting potential witnesses slip through his fingers. <voice_sheet> Selvi: "Jeez, detective, you scared the bejeezus out of me!" "Ah. Sorry about that.
