I turned to see Sir Roland, the chief knight of the castle, eyeing me up and down. He examined me with a skeptical eye. "I hear the King fancies a new squire for his favorite. I'll be watching your progress, so do not disappoint us." He turned and ambled off to the stables, beckoning me to follow. I did, my heart racing with anticipation.
