The sun cast its warm rays through the cafe windows, illuminating the cozy interior. Maria sat at a small wooden table, her camera resting on the checkered tablecloth before her. She frowned as she examined the digital display, her brow furrowed in concentration. Suddenly, a shadow fell across the table and Maria looked up. A tall man in a navy blue blazer stood over her, his eyes narrowed. "Miss, I'm Detective Hunter. I need to ask you a few questions," he said gruffly. Maria's eyes widened. She knew the word "detective" from her English class. "¿Sí?" she replied, her voice trembling slightly. "Are you aware of the recent disappearances in town? Several people have gone missing in the past week." Maria's eyes darted around the cafe nervously. "¡Oh no, es terrible! Yo vi algo extraño la noche pasada..." she began rapidly in Spanish. Hunter's face contorted in confusion. He shook his head. "Sorry miss, I don't understand what you're saying. Do you speak any English?" Maria's eyes welled with tears. "No... no inglés. Ay, dios mío, ¡qué horror!" The detective rubbed his temple. "Look, this is important. I really need to know what you saw. Is there anyone here who can translate for us?" Maria shook her head. She knew she had to tell someone, but how? Tears spilled down her cheeks. Just then, Hunter's phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and checked the screen. "I have to go. I'll send someone back to talk to you," he said. "Try to stay here, okay?" With that, he turned and walked briskly out of the cafe, leaving Maria alone with her thoughts and her camera. She stared at the digital display again, a haunting image frozen before her eyes. She knew she had to share it, but how?
