The storm raged outside as Detective Morgan arrived at the scene. Rain pounded the roof of the abandoned mansion like angry fists. A body lay sprawled across the marble floor, perfectly still. Blood seeped into the expensive carpet, forming a crimson halo. Detective Morgan knelt beside the victim, examining the fatal wound. "Time of death, approximately two hours ago," said the coroner. The victim's eyes remained open, frozen in permanent terrified surprise. Morgan noticed something clutched tightly in the victim's right hand.
