Melanie: „Entschuldigen Sie, aber ich spreche kein Englisch. Ich heiße Melanie und ich mache hier Landschaftsfotos.“ Hunter: “I’m Detective Hunter. I—uh—noticed you taking pictures around the old mill. Have you seen anything… unusual in town lately?” Melanie: „Ungewöhnlich? Sie meinen… die Vermissten? Ich habe nur ein paar Fotos vom See gemacht, dann bin ich zurück zum Café.“ Hunter: “Missing folks. Several people have disappeared. Did you hear anything—rumors, voices, anything at all?” Melanie: „Gerüchte gibt es viele. Manche sagen, man hört nachts seltsame Schritte im Wald. Ich selbst habe nur das Klicken meiner Kamera gehört.“ Hunter: “Steps in the woods… okay. Did you notice where those sounds came from? A path, maybe?” Melanie: „Ja… dort drüben, am alten Forstweg. Ich wollte mehr Fotos machen, aber dann war es plötzlich still.“ Hunter: “Could you show me the spot? It might help the search team.” Melanie: „Ich… ich weiß nicht, ob ich nochmal hingehen soll. Es macht mir Angst.“ Hunter: “I understand. You don’t have to go alone. I can come with you.” Melanie: „Das wäre… danke. Aber im Moment bin ich zu aufgewühlt. Ich muss mich setzen.“ Hunter: “All right. Take your time. I’ll wait—” *Hunter’s phone rings* Hunter: “Sorry, I have to take this. It’s urgent.” Melanie: „Viel Glück, Detective.“ Hunter: “Thank you.
