### Scene Setup: A chipped-mug small-town cafe on Alborn, MN’s main drag, strung with apple festival bunting. Selvi huddles over her DSLR, scrolling through raw photos, her knuckles white. Hunter, a scuffed leather jacket-clad detective with his badge clipped to his belt, approaches her table after canvassing the street for witnesses to the town’s string of disappearances. --- ### Voice Sheet Dialogue Selvi: (looks up sharply, her camera slipping in a shaking grip, voice rapid and terror-stricken in Hindi) “मैंने उस लड़की को देखा! वह जो गायब हो गई है! एक आदमी उसे जबरन ट्रक में डाल रहा था, मैंने फोटो खींच ली लेकिन उसने मुझे देख लिया!” (Translation: I saw the girl! The one who went missing! A man forced her into a truck, I took photos but he saw me!) Hunter: (pauses mid-reach for the empty chair across from her, brow furrowed, his no-nonsense tone laced with total confusion) “Whoa, hold on, I can’t understand a single word you’re saying. Ma’am, I’m Detective Hunter with the county sheriff’s office. I came over to ask if you’d seen anything suspicious around the apple festival grounds yesterday—we’ve got three teens missing now. Do you speak English?” Selvi: (leans forward, shoving her camera across the table to jab at the screen, voice cracking with panic, still speaking only Hindi) “देखो ये तस्वीरें! काला ट्रक, लाइसेंस प्लेट भी क्लिक हो गया है! वह मेरे पीछे आ रहा है, मैं यहां अकेली हूं, कोई मेरी बात नहीं समझ पा रहा!” (Translation: Look at these photos! The black truck, I even caught the license plate! He’s coming for me, I’m all alone here, no one can understand what I’m saying!) Hunter: (squints at the camera screen but can’t parse her words, fumbling for his phone in his pocket, frustrated by the language barrier) “Wait, that’s Hindi, right? I don’t speak a word of it, but I’ve got a translation app. Let me pull it up, we can sort this out, I’m here to help—” Selvi: (grabs his wrist to stop him, tears welling in her eyes, rambling faster as her panic spikes) “उसने मुझे देखा! मैंने शहर के बाहर जंगल में भी उस ट्रक को देखा था, आज सुबह भी मेरे पीछे आया था! मुझे यहां से जाना है!” (Translation: He saw me! Hunter: (holds up his free hand to try to calm her, still utterly lost except for the urgency in her tone) “Hey, slow down, just give me one second to load the app, I’m not going to let anything hurt you—” Hunter: (his work phone blares from his pocket, he yanks it out, his cop demeanor snapping back sharp and rigid) “Hunter. What? Another missing person? At the orchard? Shit, I’m five minutes out.” Hunter: (shoves his phone back, grabs his badge, leans over the table to mouth “I’ll be back” before he can explain anything further, yelling over his shoulder as he bolts for the door) “I’m sorry, I have to run—stay here, I’ll bring someone who can understand you, I promise!”
