*DETECTIVE HUNTER approaches, his boots hitting the wooden floor with purpose. He pulls out the chair across from her and sits.*

**HUNTER:**
Excuse me. You were at Miller's Orchard two days ago, correct?

*Maria looks up, her eyes red-rimmed. She opens her mouth and speaks rapidly in Spanish, her voice trembling.*

**MARIA:**
*(Spanish)*
"No sé qué pasó... Vi sombras entre los árboles. Escuché gritos en la noche. Nadie me cree. Tengo tanto miedo, no puedo dormir..."

*Hunter's brow furrows. He leans back in his chair, clearly lost.*

**HUNTER:**

*He turns and strides toward the door, disappearing into the gray afternoon light.*
