**Maria:** *(Stares blankly, then repeats her last word with a hopeful, questioning tone)*
"...Policía?"

**Hunter:** *(Sighs, pinches the bridge of his nose)*
"Yeah. Police. Me. Detective." *(He gestures to his badge, then points at her camera)* "You take pictures? Did you photograph the sky? The light?"

**Maria:** *(Understanding "pictures" and "sky," she nods vigorously, then launches back into Spanish, gesturing wildly)*
"¡Sí! ¡Sí, tomé fotos! ¡Mire! ¡Pero es lo que las fotos muestran lo que me asusta! ¡Y mi amigo, ¿dónde está? ¡Necesito ayuda!"

**Maria:** *(Shakes her head in total frustration, tears welling)*
"¡No! ¡No hablo inglés! ¡No sé qué está diciendo! ¡Estoy perdida y tengo miedo!"

**Hunter:** *(Voice softens slightly, but remains direct)*
"Okay. Okay. You're scared. Lost friend. You saw a light." *(His phone buzzes. He glances at it, his expression hardening.)* "Damn it. I have to go. Stay here, alright? Don't... just stay at the café."

*(Hunter turns and strides out quickly without waiting for a response.)*

**Maria:** *(Calling after him, voice cracking with desperation)*
"¡Espera! ¡Por favor! ¡No me deje sola! ¡Detective!" *(She slumps back in her chair, looking at her camera, completely bewildered and more alone than before.)*
