You are an expert novelist with a gift for vivid, immersive prose. You write in tight third-person limited point of view with a strong narrative voice. Your prose is clean, precise, and engaging — you favor strong verbs, concrete details, and natural-sounding dialogue. You will be given a story bible (codex) containing canonical details about characters, locations, items, and lore. Use these details to ground your writing in the established world. Stay consistent with the codex. Write only the prose of the scene. Do not include titles, chapter headings, markdown formatting, or any commentary before or after the scene.

A small group enters an ancient, otherworldly place for the first time. The environment is alien and wondrous. Describe their exploration — what they see, hear, and feel as they move deeper. Include moments of discovery, unease, and wonder. Let the world-building emerge through the characters' experience rather than exposition. Aurora stepped through the ancient stone archway, the cool air on the other side raising goosebumps on her arms. Nyx glided beside her, their shadowy form minimally affected by the temperature, while Isolde drifted ahead like a mist, hair and cloak billowing as if caught in an unfelt wind. The clearing before them was still a moment, as if waiting. Then vibrant wildflowers sprang to life, unfurling petals and greeting the sun like dawn itself. The tall oaks surrounding them rumbled and swayed, loose leaves rippling though no breeze moved the air of this place. "This must be the Fae Grove," Isolde said, her voice a clear whisper. "Where time do not flow at the same rate as the rest of the world. Where you may have breakfast while a score of years pass in Richmond Park beyond." "Are you certain this is the place?" Aurora asked, taking tentative steps across the springy moss. The forest floor creaked and groaned as if disappointed by her footfalls. Ahead, the foliage shivered and swirled. Isolde regarded her with an inscrutable expression. "We are here. This much is certain, dear one. What lies beyond, however..." She drifted away, her tone fading to inaudible. Diamond lights dappled the green canopy above, winking in and out of existence. The oaksrippled as if washed in water, their edges blurring. Quick as breath, a silhouette separated from the trunk, rushing towards Aurora. She dove aside, heart thundering. The thing hurtled past, thudding into the earth. "Get back!" Isolde's voice rang out. The Fae woman raised a hand, a flash of lavender light radiating from her palm. But the creature lay still, unmoving, pale yellow with an iron green stripe down its back. "A talking lizard?" Aurora asked, examining it. Nyx drifted around it with a whispered laugh. "Not just any talking lizard, my dear. This is a firelizard, creatures of Faerie." Isolde nodded. "Indeed. A creature of fire and change, known to inhabit the Fae Grove. And it has come to you, Hel-bound soul." Aurora frowned. "Me? How---" The lizard's eyes blinked open, a piercing open stare pierced the air. "Humans," it croaked in a strong voice. "Helbound, yet able to mindspeak. The Seer is here as well. Strange are the days of our world." " bianca mindspeak?" Nyx asked. The lizard raised its head. "A form of communication, my night-shadowed kin. It is no mere lizard you see before you, but the vengeful spirit of a Fae warrior." Isolde gave a lavender-wreathed sigh. "To be trapped so, in a one-dimensional vessel, allied with creatures of Hel. There are worse fates, but I cannot think of many." The lizard's diamond eyes scanned the women. "To the task at hand. The Helmound lies ahead, waiting for an arisen Keystone. And here," it hissed, golden tongue flicking out, "a child of exiles and rootless Shade, a Fae slut---" Isolde waved a hand dismissively. "Oh, I've had riders more ardent than you." Aurora stared at Isolde and Blaze, this queer gathering. What terrible secrets cracked in this place? She turned to look at Isolde again, starting to ask a question, but the words never left her lips. Isolde nodded at Aurora. "I warned you, Hellseeker." The lizard's laughter peeked across the glade. A wind rippled through the trees, the shadows on the ground growing suddenly sharper. The winged lizard hung in the air, staring down at them. "We have no choice then, I suppose, but to journey to the Helmound," Isolde said softly, a hint of resignation in her expression. She turned and began to walk, crossing down one of the paths. Aurora and Nyx followed, the deciduous canopy hanging low, not moving. A little further on, the ground sloped upwards. Aurora's shadowed footsteps froze as she caught something moving in the corner of her eye. At the top of the knoll, a wicker basket had been left sitting. Her arms had no strength. Nyx grasped her with solid shadow, settling on her side to case her shivering. Isolde stared, her orb flickering in the wind. Cricket ducked its head as a very, all together alive infant, howling lustily. "Oh gods. What is that thing?" Aurora gasped, wrapping her arms around her knees. Nyx peered at the creature in fascinated revulsion. "It has characteristics of a lemur and an anteater, but those... Brah-min horns. They belong to a land spirit." "I have seen creatures like this in another time, another place," Isolde said. "The Hel spirit knows no bounds, not even the hidden places between realms." "Solitude," Aurora bit out, her hands balled so hard they shook. She glanced back to see if anything had wormed its way underground. "What is this thing? I don't think I want to know." "It's a nocwuff, my human figments," Blaze said, perching on Aurora's shoulder. "A creature trained by Fae to hunt and slay creatures of earth." He paused a moment, then whispered for only her ears. "Oh yes. We are most certainly stuck in here."
