From somewhere inside the stable came a low, unnatural growl. Sir Roland’s hand moved toward his sword. “You arrived sooner than I expected,” he said quietly. “That may be fortunate. Something crossed the northern wall last night, and whatever it was has taken an interest in the horses.” </nc-section>
