"So. You're the new squire," he rumbled, taking Thunder's reins without asking. "Late. Hungry horse. Dull boots. We’ll make a start by fixing all three before moonrise. Stable that stallion yourself — no stableboy will do your work for you here."
Frederick swallowed and nodded, feeling the weight of the castle walls press closer.
