Molly and Bill crouched behind a row of bushes, peering through the leaves at the chaos of the children's party in full swing. Balloons bobbed in the air, and the sound of laughter and squeals filled the backyard. A clown was making balloon animals, and a table groaned under the weight of brightly wrapped presents. "Alright, Bill, what's the plan?" Molly whispered, her eyes fixed on the pile of gifts. Bill adjusted his black beanie and grinned. "Simple. We blend in, grab the loot, and get out. Easy peasy." Molly raised an eyebrow. "Blend in? We're not exactly dressed for a kiddie party." Bill pulled out two oversized, colorful hats from his backpack. "That's where these come in. Instant party guests." Molly took one of the hats, a garish pink monstrosity with a giant flower on top. "You've got to be kidding me." "Hey, it's either this or we go in as clowns," Bill said, pointing to the clown who was now juggling. "And I don't know about you, but I can't juggle." Molly sighed and put on the hat. "Fine. But if anyone asks, we're the entertainment." Bill nodded, placing a blue hat with a spinning propeller on his head. "Exactly. Now, remember, the presents are our target. We get in, grab as many as we can, and get out before anyone notices." They stood up and casually walked towards the party, trying to blend in with the crowd of parents and children. Molly forced a smile as a little girl in a princess dress ran past her, nearly knocking her over. "Hey, look at that," Bill said, pointing to a group of kids gathered around a piñata. "Perfect distraction." Molly nodded. "You create a diversion, and I'll start loading up the presents." Bill sauntered over to the piñata, clapping his hands. "Alright, kids! Who wants to see a magic trick?" The children turned to him, eyes wide with excitement. "Me! Me!" they shouted. Molly took the opportunity to slip over to the gift table. She grabbed a large, colorful bag and started stuffing presents into it as quickly as she could. She glanced over her shoulder to see Bill pulling a coin from behind a boy's ear, the kids erupting in applause. "Keep it up, Bill," she muttered to herself, grabbing another present. Just as she was about to reach for a particularly large box, a voice behind her made her freeze. "Excuse me, miss, what are you doing?" Molly turned to see a woman with a suspicious look on her face. "Oh, hi! I'm just, uh, helping to organize the presents. You know, make sure they don't get mixed up." The woman frowned. "I don't remember seeing you before. Are you with the party planners?" Molly's mind raced. "Yes! Yes, I am. They sent me over to help out. You know how chaotic these things can get." The woman seemed to relax a bit. "Oh, alright. Just make sure you don't take any of the birthday boy's presents. He's very particular." "Of course," Molly said, forcing another smile. "Wouldn't dream of it." As the woman walked away, Molly let out a sigh of relief and continued stuffing the bag. She glanced over at Bill, who was now pretending to pull a rabbit out of an empty hat, the kids cheering wildly. "Almost done," she whispered, grabbing the last present. "Time to go." She signaled to Bill, who wrapped up his act with a flourish. "Thank you, thank you! You've been a wonderful audience!" They made their way to the edge of the yard, trying to look casual. Just as they reached the bushes, a voice called out, "Hey, where are you going with those presents?" Molly and Bill exchanged a panicked look. "Run!" Bill shouted, and they bolted through the bushes, the sound of angry parents behind them. As they sprinted down the street, Molly couldn't help but laugh. "Well, that was close." Bill grinned, clutching the bag of presents. "Yeah, but we did it. Happy birthday to us!"
