"Alright, Bill, here's the plan," Molly said, unfolding a blueprint of the party venue on the cramped kitchen table. "We hit the party at two pm, when all the sugar-high kids are distracted by the clown's magic show." Bill leaned in, his eyes scanning the layout. "And we're going for the presents, right? Not the cake?" Molly rolled her eyes. "Of course we're going for the presents. We're thieves, not toddler-entertainers. We need something with resale value." "Fair point. But have you considered the security? I mean, this is a children's party. There's bound to be some overbearing parent hovering around every corner." "Leave the parents to me, Bill. I've got a plan for that too." Molly winked. "I've been practicing my 'concerned aunt' face in the mirror. I can out suburbs any soccer mom." Bill snorted. "I have no doubt. But what about the actual presents? How do we get our hands on those without being noticed?" Molly grinned mischievously. "That's the best part. We're going to create a diversion. A fake birthday cake emergency." Bill's eyebrows shot up. "A what now?" "Think about it, Bill. Kids love cake. And kids with cake-induced sugar highs are like tiny, sticky landmines waiting to go off. We just need to 'accidentally' knock over the main cake display, and in the ensuing chaos, we swoop in and swap out the presents with our own identical, empty boxes." Bill whistled. "You're a genius, Molly. A diabolical genius." Molly preened, smoothing out a wrinkle on the blueprint. "Thank you, Bill. I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to unleash my inner child- wrangler." "And what about the clown?" Bill asked, his tone serious. "We can't exactly count on him being distracted by the cake mess. He's a professional, after all." Molly waved a dismissive hand. "Leave the clown to me, Bill. I've got a special surprise for him too. Let's just say...I've been practicing my squirt-gun-in-the-ear technique." Bill laughed, a startled bark of sound. "You're going to soak the clown?" Molly's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Not just the clown, Bill. I'm going to give the whole party a good soaking. It'll be a birthday bash they'll never forget." Bill shook his head, chuckling. "You know, sometimes I forget why I started working with you in the first place." Molly's grin faltered for a moment, before her expression smoothed into a sly smile. "It's because I'm the only partner in crime who can make you laugh while we're casing a nursery school, Bill. Now let's get to work and steal us some toys." Bill stood up, a relieved expression on his face. "You know what, Molly? Sometimes I think you're more terrifying than the actual heists."
