Molly traced her finger along the architectural plans of the park pavilion. It looked more like a miniature castle, complete with turrets and tiny flags. “Okay, so we’ve got twenty minutes between the bouncy castle losing air and the cake arriving.” Bill, sprawled on the floor with a bag of chips precariously balanced on his stomach, tossed a chip at her. “Who schedules cake *after* a bouncy castle?” Molly deftly caught the chip in her mouth, leaving a greasy splotch on the blueprint. “People with terrible priorities, Bill. People who don’t understand that the acquisition of sugar-fueled toddlers is the key to our success.” She snatched the bag of chips and continued. “Now, we’ve got two points of entry - the double doors they’ll use for the “Grand Present Parade”,” she mimed air quotes and rolled her eyes dramatically, “and the emergency exit near the kitchens. Which one speaks to your inner five-year-old?” Bill, momentarily distressed by the loss of his chips, sat up with a groan. “Look, I’ll take any way in that doesn’t involve a face full of glitter and a chorus of off-key ‘Happy Birthday’.” He snatched the bag of chips back. “My point exactly. Kitchen it is. Less chance of running into Captain Sparkles the clown too, and we all know how you feel about clowns.” “They’re terrifying agents of chaos, Molly. No one needs that much makeup to entertain children, it’s just unsettling.” Molly ignored him, already mapping their route on the blueprint with a red marker. “Right, so kitchen door it is. We’ll use the distraction of the deflating castle to blend in with the panicked parents and slip out the back with the loot. I’ve got Benny’s van disguised as a catering truck parked a block away.” “Disguised?” Bill raised an eyebrow. “As in, you wrote the word ‘catering’ on the side in lipstick?” Molly glared at him. “It’s tinted lip balm. And it gets the job done. Look, all you need to worry about is stuffing as many presents into a sack as possible before—” “Before the sugar-fueled toddlers realize we’re stealing their presents and unleash their primal fury upon us? Yeah, yeah, I got it memorized.” Molly smirked. “Good. Because those tiny humans are surprisingly strong, and I am not carrying you out of there.”
