The dimly lit alleyway reeked of stale cigarettes and something far more unsavory. Molly wrinkled her nose in disgust as she leaned against the graffiti-covered wall, waiting for her partner in crime. "You're late, Bill," she said, glaring at the scruffy-looking man who came stumbling around the corner. "Relax, Molls," Bill drawled, his eyes narrowing. "I had to shake off a nosy flatfoot. Thought I was gonna end up in the clink for sure." Molly rolled her eyes. "You're lucky I don't ditch you and pull this job solo. Now, spill the details." Bill grinned, revealing a set of crooked teeth. "Get a load of this, doll. We're hitting the biggest score of our careers - a kiddie party." Molly arched an eyebrow. "A kiddie party? You've gotta be kidding me." "Hear me out," Bill insisted. "This ain't no ordinary shindig. It's the birthday bash for the brat of that big-shot muckety-muck, Reginald Penderton III." "The millionaire?" Molly's eyes widened. "The one and only," Bill confirmed with a nod. "Word on the street is that the little ankle-biter's rolling in more loot than Fort Knox." Molly pursed her lips. "I dunno, Bill. Stealing from kids doesn't sit right with me." Bill waved a dismissive hand. "Aw, come on, Molls. We're not swiping their toys or nothing. Just the mountain of expensive gifts from all those high-falutin' guests." "And how exactly do you propose we pull this off?" Molly asked skeptically. "Simple," Bill said, rubbing his hands together. "We disguise ourselves as a couple of clowns and slip in with the entertainment crew." Molly snorted. "Clowns? Really, Bill? You know how much I hate those creepy freaks." "Hey, it's the perfect cover," Bill argued. "No one's gonna suspect a couple of goofy mugs like us. We'll have the run of the place, and when the coast is clear, we swipe the goods and split." Molly considered his plan for a moment, chewing on her bottom lip. "I don't like it, but I guess it could work." Bill flashed her a confident grin. "Trust me, doll. This is gonna be a walk in the park. We'll be rolling in dough before you know it." Molly shook her head, a wry smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "If this goes sideways, I'm blaming you." "Aw, quit your worrying," Bill said, slinging an arm around her shoulders. "With my brains and your brass, we're an unstoppable team. Those rich snobs won't know what hit 'em." As they set off to gather their clown supplies, Molly couldn't shake the feeling that this heist was a recipe for disaster. But with Bill's boundless optimism and the promise of a hefty payday, she found herself getting swept up in the madness. After all, what could possibly go wrong at a children's party?
