Molly tightened the straps on her black jumpsuit, her eyes narrowed in concentration. "Alright, Bill, let's go over the plan one more time. We need to make sure we've got every detail locked down." Bill, his face half-hidden by a ski mask, nodded eagerly. "I'm ready, Mol. This is gonna be our biggest score yet. Just think of all those shiny new toys, waiting to be liberated." "Exactly," Molly said, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. "And with the party in full swing, no one will even notice us slipping in and out. It's gonna be a piece of cake." They crept through the shadows, their footsteps silent as they approached the brightly lit house. Molly peered through the window, watching as a horde of excited children danced and played, completely oblivious to the impending heist. "Alright, Bill, you take the back door. I'll handle the front," she whispered, her heart racing with anticipation. "Got it. See you on the other side, partner," Bill replied, before disappearing around the corner. Molly took a deep breath and slipped through the front door, her movements swift and graceful. She quickly scanned the room, locating the pile of presents in the corner. "Time to get to work," she murmured, her fingers quickly sorting through the colorful packages, separating the most valuable-looking ones. "Hey, what are you doing?" Molly froze, her heart leaping into her throat. She turned to see a small boy, his eyes wide with confusion. "Uh, just... helping to tidy up," she stammered, silently cursing her luck. "But those are my presents!" the boy cried, his voice rising in pitch. "Shh, keep it down, kid," Molly hissed, her mind racing as she tried to think of a way out of this situation. "Mom! Dad! There's a thief!" the boy shouted, his tiny face scrunched up in panic. Molly winced, knowing that their cover was blown. She quickly grabbed as many presents as she could and made a dash for the door, her heart pounding in her ears. "Bill, time to go!" she yelled, her voice barely audible over the chaos. Bill came barreling through the back door, his arms laden with more loot. "What happened?" he asked, his eyes wide with alarm. "We got made, that's what happened," Molly snapped, tossing him a few of the packages. "Now let's get the hell out of here before the cops show up." They raced down the street, their breath coming in short gasps as they clutched their ill-gotten gains. Molly could hear the sound of sirens echoing in the distance, and she knew they had to move fast. "We'll have to ditch the car and lay low for a while," she said, her mind already whirring with contingency plans. "Damn it, Mol, I thought we had this one in the bag," Bill groaned, his shoulders sagging with disappointment. "Yeah, well, that's the risk we take in this business," Molly replied, her voice grim. "But at least we got something to show for it, right?" Bill managed a weak chuckle. "I guess you're right. And hey, maybe next time we'll hit the jackpot." Molly nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "That's the spirit, partner. Now let's get out of here before we end up in the slammer."
