Molly and Bill sat in a dimly lit room, surrounded by maps, lockpicks, and bags stuffed with carefully gathered equipment. Molly, her eyes dancing with a touch of madness, leaned back in her chair and let out a low whistle. "Can you believe it, Bill? Our next target literally has 'vulnerable loot' written all over it!" Bill, a wiry man with a sly smile, nodded eagerly. "I heard the rumors. A children's party bursting with presents and it's the holidays to boot. Talk about low-hanging fruit." "Or rather, low-objection fruit," Molly corrected with a giggle. They both knew a bit of subterfuge would be necessary to get away with this. "That's why the disguise game is so important, my friend. We can't just waltz into Santa's warehouse in our street clothes." Bill chortled. "My mother's fertility potions with fake mustaches and those cape-dresses she's not wearing everywhere and we've got John and Jane Prettymantle right there, as well." Molly nodded approvingly. "Exactly! This time, we're the Claus Critters, bringing back popular favorites for that special touch at their little space. Right?" "Absolutely." Bill glanced out of the window, where children's laughter could be heard in the distance. "It's opportune, it's critical. Why is the party being thrown the night before Christmas Eve again?" "Wee secrets," Molly said mysteriously. "And after all, that will greatly deter the token guardians of Santa’s rights...Put a few crackers up their nose, right?" Bill grunted. "That's punishment for those nitpicking kids who won't stop asking questions round the tree," he agreed. Molly nodded with a smile, her eyes dancing with mirth. "Remind me why I like being the brains of this operation again, Bill?" she chuckled. Bill winked. "Because you like the liberation, Molly—being in the thick of secrets and double-crosses like a B-level maestro of thievery!" "But yes, all right," she said, leaning forward. "We were never approved appraisers!" They both burst out laughing, their plans coming together like a beautifully concocted puzzle in their heads. For the job of a lifetime was nigh, and they couldn't wait to see the wonders they were about to steal—they were guaranteed not to be traditional presents!
