"I'm telling you, Bill, it's genius," Molly said, unfolding a crumpled up blueprint of the birthday party layout. "We hit the party at exactly 2:45, when all the sugar-high kids are distracted by the magician and the adults are too busy gossiping to notice us." Bill raised an eyebrow, sipping his lukewarm coffee. "You're really going to make us wear clown suits, aren't you?" Molly grinned. "That's the beauty of it, Bill. We blend in. We're just two more party clowns amidst the chaos. Who's going to suspect us of stealing all the presents?" "Because it's a children's birthday party, Molly. We're about to ruin a bunch of six-year-olds' day. That's just wrong." "Oh, come on, Bill. You're not going to start getting all sentimental on me, are you? It's just stuff. Stuff we can fence for a small fortune. And think of all the good we can do with that money...like buying ourselves a nice dinner at that new French place." Bill sighed. "You know I'm in, Molly. I just want to make sure we're not going to get caught." Molly patted the stolen party invitation. "I've got the layout memorized, Bill. We get in, we get the presents, we get out. Easy peasy. And if things go south, we improvise. We're professionals, after all." "Professionals? You're the one who got us caught at the charity gala last year because you tried to steal the violinist's violin mid-performance." Molly laughed. "Ah, yes. Well, that was just a minor setback. And we did make it out with a nice bottle of champagne, if I recall." Bill rubbed his temples. "You're impossible, you know that?" Molly beamed. "That's why you love me, Bill. Now, are you ready to get to work? We've got some presents to steal." As they pored over the blueprint, Bill couldn't help but wonder how they'd managed to go from high-stakes art heists to children's birthday parties. But with Molly by his side, anything seemed possible – or at least, possible to get away with. "Okay, okay, I see the present table," Bill said, tracing a finger over the diagram. "But what's with the ' maybe- intimidate-the-piñata' notation?" Molly winked. "Leave that to me, Bill. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve. Or rather, in my oversized novelty pants." Bill face-palmed. "This is going to be a long day."
