Molly and Bill huddled together in the dimly lit alleyway, the buzzing neon sign of the bowling alley across the street flickering above them. The air was thick with the smell of stale fries and spilled soda from the neighboring fast-food joint. "So, we're really going to do this?" Bill's voice quivered slightly as he ran a hand through his greasy hair. "Steal presents from a bunch of kids?" "Yeah, why not?" Molly shot back, her eyes glittering with mischievous glee. "It's not like they'll put up much of a fight. And think of the haul—action figures, video games, maybe even some of those fancy new hoverboards." "But it's a children's party, Molly," Bill protested, his voice barely above a whisper. "There's gonna be cake and ice cream, and those kids will be crying their eyes out when they realize their presents are gone." "Oh, stop being such a softie," Molly scoffed, rolling her eyes. "You know as well as I do that we need the cash. Besides, it's not like we're stealing from orphans or something. These kids are probably brats who get everything they want." "Fine," Bill relented with a sigh, knowing they needed the money to pay off a dangerous loan shark. "Let's just get this over with. The sooner we snatch the gifts, the sooner we can get out of here."
