Molly scribbled notes on a crumpled napkin, her eyes darting between the makeshift blueprint and Bill, who was sipping a lukewarm coffee across from her. They huddled in the corner of a dingy diner, surrounded by the aroma of stale grease and yesterday's dreams. "Okay, so we've got the party at three pm, and we know the parents will be distracted by the bouncy castle and the clown making a balloon animal for each kid," Molly said, her brow furrowed in concentration. "And we've got our disguises –" Bill held up a bright orange wig and a pair of oversized sunglasses "– which will definitely throw them off our scent." Molly raised an eyebrow. "You're really going with 'orange afro' as your cover identity?" "Hey, it's a classic," Bill defended. "I'm channeling my inner traffic cone." "I'm more concerned about the logistics," Molly said, circling a section of the napkin. "We need to get in, snatch the presents, and get out before the piñata's even been busted open." "Leave that to me," Bill said, grinning. "I've got a diversion planned. Trust me, it's going to be epic." Molly raised an eyebrow. "What kind of diversion?" "I've rigged a fake mustache to fall off the clown's face at exactly 3:17 pm. It'll be like a tiny, hairsprayed earthquake." Molly's expression remained skeptical. "And how, exactly, did you rig the clown's mustache?" Bill shrugged. "Let's just say I have my ways. And a bottle of extra-hold hairspray." Molly sighed. "You're getting a little too comfortable with the whole 'crazy' thing, Bill." "Hey, it's all about commitment to the role," Bill said, donning the orange wig and striking a pose. "Now, shall we go over the presents' hiding spots one more time?" Molly consulted the napkin, her eyes scanning the crude diagram. "Okay, so the presents are stashed under the craft table, behind the ' Pin the Tail on the Donkey' board... and there's a secondary stash hidden behind the DJ's equipment." Bill nodded, tapping his foot to an unheard rhythm. "I'll take the craft table, you take the DJ. We meet back at the balloon archway, and –" "– we make our escape with the loot," Molly finished, a slow grin spreading across her face. The diner's neon sign flickered, casting an eerie glow on their makeshift operation. For a moment, they just looked at each other, two thieves wrapped in their own little world of mischief and mayhem. "Time to get our party started," Bill said, winking. Molly chuckled, tucking the napkin into her pocket. "Let's go give those kids a birthday to remember."
