"What's the point of these getups?" she asked, flicking at the fluffy pink boa constrictor wrapped around her neck. "We're not going to a rave, we're crashing a kid's birthday party." "Exactly," Bill said, applying a layer of garish, glittery eyeshadow. "We need to blend in with the chaos. Who's going to suspect a couple of over-caffeinated, attention-seeking party clowns of being professional thieves?" Molly raised an eyebrow. "You know, you're not as clever as you think you are, Bill." "Hey, my disguises have gotten us out of tighter spots than this," Bill defended, wiggling his eyebrows. "Now, let's go over the plan one more time. We hit the party at 2 pm, when the sugar high is in full swing and the parents are too exhausted to notice us swooping in." "Right, and we make a beeline for the present table," Molly recited, checking her fake mustache in the mirror. "Grab as many gifts as we can carry, and make our exit before the pinata starts spewing out candy." "Exactly. And if anyone asks, we're 'Uncle Bob and Aunt Bertha', there to celebrate little Timmy's special day." Molly snorted. "You know, for a master thief, you're really bad at coming up with fake names." "Hey, it's not like we're trying to win an award for creativity," Bill said, winking. "Just remember, the presents are the priority. We can fence those things for a pretty penny on the black market." Molly's eyes lit up. "I've got a buyer lined up for that new Turbo-Bot 5000 action figure. We could make a small fortune off that one alone." "Then let's get moving, partner," Bill said, grabbing a rainbow-colored balloon animal from the counter and twisting it into a makeshift flower. "We've got a party to crash." As they exited the cramped hotel bathroom, Molly turned to Bill and whispered, "You know, we're going to hell for this." "Only if we get caught," Bill whispered back, jamming a party horn onto his head. "Now, let's go make some bad life choices and get rich off the tears of children." The pair of would-be thieves burst out of the hotel room, laughing maniacally as they made their way to the party of the year.
