Molly and Bill crouched behind a row of bushes, peering through the leaves at the brightly decorated house across the street. Balloons bobbed in the breeze, and the sound of children's laughter filled the air. "Alright, Bill, what's the plan?" Molly whispered, her eyes narrowing as she surveyed the scene. Bill adjusted his ski mask, which he had prematurely pulled over his face. "First, we blend in. We need to look like we belong at this party." Molly raised an eyebrow. "And how exactly do we do that? We're not exactly kid-friendly material." Bill grinned, revealing a set of fake vampire teeth. "Simple. We go in as entertainment. You know, clowns or something." Molly stifled a laugh. "Clowns? You hate clowns." "Yeah, but the kids don't know that," Bill said, shrugging. "Besides, it's the perfect cover. No one suspects the clowns." Molly sighed. "Fine. But where are we going to get clown costumes on such short notice?" Bill pulled a crumpled flyer from his pocket. "There's a costume shop around the corner. We can be in and out in ten minutes." Molly glanced at the flyer. "Alright, but if this goes south, I'm blaming you." "Deal," Bill said, standing up. "Let's go." Ten minutes later, they were back behind the bushes, now dressed in garish clown outfits. Bill's oversized shoes squeaked with every step, and Molly's rainbow wig kept slipping over her eyes. "Okay, remember the plan," Bill said, adjusting his red nose. "We go in, do a little song and dance, and then swipe the presents when no one's looking." Molly nodded. "Got it. But what if the kids want us to do balloon animals or something?" Bill's eyes widened. "Balloon animals? I didn't think of that." Molly rolled her eyes. "Of course you didn't. Just follow my lead." They approached the house, trying to look as cheerful as possible. A woman, presumably the birthday boy's mother, greeted them at the door. "Oh, you must be the clowns! The kids are going to love this," she said, ushering them inside. Molly forced a smile. "That's right! We're here to make the party extra special." Bill gave a half-hearted honk of his clown horn. "Yep, special is our middle name." The living room was a sea of children, all eagerly awaiting the clowns' performance. Molly and Bill exchanged nervous glances. "Alright, kids, who's ready for some fun?" Molly called out, trying to sound enthusiastic. The children cheered, and Bill began juggling a few rubber balls he found lying around. Molly started a clumsy dance, hoping to distract the kids long enough for Bill to make his move. "Hey, Molly, look at this!" Bill said, tossing a ball high into the air and catching it behind his back. Molly clapped her hands. "Wow, Bill, you're amazing!" The kids were mesmerized, giving Bill the perfect opportunity to inch closer to the pile of presents. He grabbed a few brightly wrapped boxes and stuffed them into his oversized clown pants. "Alright, kids, time for a magic trick!" Molly announced, trying to keep their attention. Bill gave her a thumbs-up, signaling that he had the loot. "And now, for our grand finale, we'll make ourselves disappear!" Molly and Bill quickly made their way to the door, waving and honking their horns as they went. The kids clapped and cheered, none the wiser. Once outside, they sprinted back to their hiding spot behind the bushes, panting and laughing. "That was too easy," Bill said, pulling off his clown wig. Molly grinned. "Yeah, but let's not make a habit of it. I don't think I can handle another round of 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.'" Bill chuckled. "Agreed. Now, let's see what we got." They opened the presents, revealing an assortment of toys and games. Molly shook her head, smiling. "Well, it's not exactly a fortune, but it's something," she said. Bill nodded. "Yeah, and who knows? Maybe we'll find a use for all these toys." Molly laughed. "Or we could just donate them to a charity. You know, do something good for a change." Bill considered this for a moment. "Yeah, maybe we should. After all, even thieves have a heart, right?" Molly smiled. "Right."
