"Alright, Molly, here's the plan," Bill whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of giggling children and blaring party music. "We sneak in, grab as many presents as we can, and get out before anyone notices. Got it?" Molly nodded, her eyes darting around the room, taking in every detail. "Sounds simple enough, but how are we supposed to look like we belong here?" "Easy," Bill replied with a grin. "We'll dress up as clowns. Who would suspect a couple of harmless entertainers?" Molly raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. "You really think that'll work? I mean, we're not exactly children's party material." "Trust me, it'll be fine," Bill insisted, trying to reassure her. "Just stick close to me, and we'll be in and out before you know it." With a deep breath, Molly stepped into the room, following closely behind Bill. The children's eyes lit up as they spotted the two clowns, their excitement palpable. "Look, it's Clowny and Clowetta!" one little girl squealed, her face painted with glittery makeup. Molly forced a smile, trying to appear friendly and approachable. "That's right, kiddos! We're here to entertain you and make sure you have a totally awesome party!" The children giggled and clapped, seemingly enthralled by the two clowns. Bill leaned in close to Molly, his voice low and urgent. "Now's our chance. Start grabbing the presents while I distract the kids with some magic tricks." Molly nodded, trying to look casual as she made her way towards the pile of colorfully wrapped presents. As Bill whipped out a deck of cards and began performing sleight-of-hand tricks, she quickly stuffed as many gifts as she could into a large sack, her heart pounding in her chest. "Abracadabra!" Bill exclaimed, waving his hands dramatically. The children laughed and clapped, completely enthralled by the performance. "Hurry up, Molly!" Bill hissed, his eyes darting towards the door. "We need to make our exit before someone catches on." Molly nodded, desperately shoving the last few presents into the sack. Just as she turned to leave, she felt a small hand tugging at her sleeve. "Clowny, where are you going?" the little girl from earlier asked, her big eyes filled with disappointment. Molly hesitated, her heart wrenching at the sight of the child's crestfallen face. "Uh, I just have to, um, go find more balloons for you guys," she stammered, trying to come up with a convincing excuse. The little girl's face lit up. "Oh, okay! Can you bring back some unicorn balloons? Those are my favorite!" Molly managed a weak smile as she ruffled the girl's hair. "You bet, sweetie. I'll be back in a jiffy with tons of unicorn balloons." With that, she turned and quickly made her way towards the door, her heart racing as she joined Bill outside. "Well, that was a close one," Bill panted, his face flushed from the adrenaline rush. "Let's get out of here before they realize we're gone." Molly nodded, her throat dry from the nerve-wracking experience. As they slipped into the shadows, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt for deceiving those innocent children. "You did good in there, Molly," Bill said, sensing her discomfort. "But remember, we're doing this for a greater cause. Those presents will be sold to help fund our next big heist, and that's what really matters." Molly took a deep breath, letting Bill's words sink in. He was right—they were thieves with a mission, and sometimes that meant making tough choices.
