The glassy room glistened with the twinkling glow of footlights, from where sat several stars, one huddled close with his mistress in a corner, another let out a stifled yawn. It was a grand reception, attended by a royalty of superheroes, eccentric eccentrics, and altogether enigmatic personalities. The scene outside of the party was bustling with life. Doves fluttered around the ankle-high lampposts while families showed up in swarms to enjoy the festivities. But two resilient, professional thieves, Molly and Bill, peered down from the ivy-laden roof, silently and with cool determination donning matching dark silk masks. They snickered at the easy target they'd found draped right in the heart of this ostentatious event – a party entirely reserved for children's aerobics, music, and the exclusive opportunity to meet their beloved superhero guests. As they observed the buffets and bright tables heaving with goodies, Molly sighed, "With all these corporate event planners, trusting parents, and clumsy superheroes, we couldn't have asked for a better grasp at simplicity." Bill patted her arm, sensing her nerves. When their scan of the party picked up no sign of security, they decided they'd eventually have to make an entrance. They couldn't afford to be stuck at the entrance. With minimal discussion, they chose their path. They inched towards the noisy room where children rushed amidst the joys of crafting and interactive storytelling. This, it seemed, would be the most viable option they had for attempting the break-in. Once they reached the corner of the room, they saw an open doorway leading to a pristine room, where a sparkling, weighted-down Christmas tree loomed over a cluster of presents piled under it. It appeared perfect for a quick job. Quick jobs, however, were never Molly and Bill's speciality. Molly shrugged and gestured to Bill from across the table, "We made it. The perfect tableau for us to carry out our master heist masterfully. Now let's find out what the next step is." Bill proceeded to move cautiously from one end of the room towards the tree, while Molly kept a cautious eye out. Just as they both were determined to move in together, they saw a frail and loveable little superhero, resplendent with a cape, crawl towards the tree. Clutching a small package, he gingerly tried to place it close to his cherished superhero costumes. Bill, quick to improvise, ad-libbed a short, sinister glint in his eye, and pushed a toy robot towards the surprised preschooler as a red herring. "Look, buttercup, how your robot can be friends with your other toys," while the saving grace landed perfectly. Molly moved in to grab the presents the young superhero had brought, and in a short span, they had completed their daring heist. As they emerged onto the vigilant roof again, Molly chuckled, "I'm impressed. You stepped in for the distraction just as the master thief and I snatched all the gifts. It went that smoothly." Bill nodded, "It sure did. I think we make a great team. We deserve both success and recognition." They locked in their eyes over the bustling chaos below. "So, now we have the best presents, let's join the party and enjoy our newfound rewards." And that way, with a final wink at each other, they became inseparable partners in crime. The glory of their son was to come.
