Molly and Bill crouched behind a row of bushes, peering through the leaves at the colorful chaos of the children's party. Balloons bobbed in the breeze, and the sound of laughter filled the air. A large table in the center of the yard was piled high with brightly wrapped presents. "Alright, Bill," Molly whispered, adjusting her black beanie. "Here's the plan. We sneak in, blend with the crowd, and grab as many presents as we can carry." Bill scratched his head, his face scrunched in confusion. "Blend with the crowd? Molly, we're not exactly dressed for a party." Molly rolled her eyes. "Details, details. We'll just say we're entertainers. Kids love clowns, right?" Bill glanced down at his all-black outfit. "Clowns? We look more like burglars." "Exactly," Molly said with a grin. "Reverse psychology. No one will suspect a thing." Bill sighed. "Fine, but if this goes south, I'm blaming you." "Deal," Molly said, patting him on the back. "Now, let's move." They crept around the side of the house, sticking to the shadows. As they approached the gate, a little girl in a princess dress spotted them and ran over. "Are you here for the party?" she asked, her eyes wide with excitement. Molly knelt down to her level. "Yes, we are. We're the surprise entertainment." The girl clapped her hands. "Yay! What kind of tricks do you do?" Bill nudged Molly. "Uh, we do... magic tricks," he said, pulling a coin from his pocket and making it disappear with a clumsy sleight of hand. The girl giggled. "That's so cool! Come on, I'll show you to the presents." Molly and Bill exchanged a glance, then followed the girl into the yard. They weaved through the crowd of children, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible. "Okay, Bill," Molly whispered. "You distract the kids with your 'magic,' and I'll start grabbing the presents." Bill nodded and stepped forward, clearing his throat. "Ladies and gentlemen, gather around for a magic show!" The children cheered and formed a circle around him. Molly took the opportunity to slip over to the table of presents. She started stuffing them into a large sack, glancing over her shoulder to make sure no one was watching. Bill fumbled through a series of basic tricks, dropping cards and nearly setting his sleeve on fire with a failed attempt at a disappearing candle. The kids, however, were delighted by his antics, laughing and clapping with each mishap. "How's it going, Molly?" Bill called out, trying to keep the kids' attention on him. "Almost done," Molly replied, her sack now bulging with gifts. "Just keep them busy a little longer." Bill nodded and pulled out a handkerchief, attempting to make it change colors. It turned into a tangled mess, but the children roared with laughter. Molly tied the sack closed and slung it over her shoulder. "Alright, Bill, time to make our exit." Bill gave a dramatic bow. "Thank you, thank you! You've been a wonderful audience!" The children cheered as Molly and Bill made their way to the gate. Just as they were about to slip out, the birthday boy's mother appeared, blocking their path. "Excuse me," she said, eyeing the bulging sack. "Where do you think you're going with those presents?" Molly and Bill froze, their minds racing for an excuse. "Uh, we're just... taking them to the magic van for a special trick," Molly stammered. The mother raised an eyebrow. "Magic van, huh? Let's see this van of yours." Bill gulped. "Right this way, ma'am." As they led her towards the street, Molly whispered to Bill, "Got any more tricks up your sleeve?" Bill shook his head. "Not unless you count running really fast." Molly grinned. "Then let's make this our grand finale." With a quick nod, they bolted down the street, the sack of presents bouncing on Molly's back. The mother shouted after them, but they didn't look back. They turned the corner and disappeared into the alley, laughing breathlessly. "Well, that was close," Bill panted. Molly chuckled. "Yeah, but we got the loot. Happy birthday to us."
