"Molly, are you sure about this?" Bill whispered, his eyes darting nervously around the dimly lit alleyway. "Of course I'm sure," Molly replied, her voice oozing with confidence. "When have I ever steered us wrong?" Bill opened his mouth to respond, but Molly cut him off with a wave of her hand. "Don't answer that. This is a foolproof plan. Think about it – a children's party, filled with expensive toys and gadgets, all ripe for the taking." "But it's a children's party," Bill protested. "Isn't that a bit, you know, low?" Molly scoffed. "Low? Bill, we're professional thieves. We don't discriminate based on age or occasion. A score is a score." "I don't know, Molly," Bill said, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. "It just feels wrong, stealing from kids." "Oh, come on," Molly chided. "Don't get all soft on me now. We've pulled off heists at museums, banks, even that one time at the opera house." "That was different," Bill argued. "Those were all grown-ups with insurance policies and deep pockets. These are just kids." Molly rolled her eyes. "You're being ridiculous. These are the children of millionaires and celebrities. Trust me, they won't even notice a few missing presents." Bill still looked unconvinced, and Molly sighed heavily. "Look, if it'll make you feel better, we can donate some of the loot to charity. How about that?" "I guess," Bill mumbled, still not entirely sold on the idea. "Great, it's settled then," Molly said, clapping her hands together. "Now, here's the plan. You'll create a distraction by dressing up as a clown and entertaining the kids. While they're all focused on you, I'll slip in and grab the goods." "A clown?" Bill squeaked. "Molly, you know I have a fear of clowns." "Oh, stop being such a baby," Molly chided. "It's just a costume. Besides, you'll be the one making the kids laugh for a change." Bill groaned, but he knew there was no arguing with Molly once she had her mind set on something. "Fine, but if I have nightmares about this, you're paying for my therapy." Molly grinned. "Deal. Now, let's go over the plan one more time…" As she launched into a detailed explanation, Bill couldn't help but feel a twinge of apprehension. Stealing from kids just seemed wrong, no matter how wealthy their parents might be. But he knew better than to try and dissuade Molly once she had her heart set on something. All he could do was hope that this heist wouldn't come back to haunt them.
