The dimly lit alleyway behind the children's party venue was the perfect spot for Molly and Bill to plan their heist. With containers of freshly popped popcorn and a box of neon-colored balloons scattered around the dumpster, they slipped into the shadows to review their gear and strategy. "Well, this looks like a Kiddie Wonderland in here," Bill said, holding up a toy frog balloon. "Glad we're not here to party. Ew." Molly snorted as she checked the contents of her duffel bag. "More like a treasure trove for us. Christmas, birthdays, and misguided parents have provided us with a goldmine." Bill raised an eyebrow. "How'd you get a hold of that?" He pointed to a sack of present-wrapped loot leaning against the dumpster. Molly grinned wickedly. "I like to keep myself informed.otta say, there are some boring gifts though. I counted at least five stuffed unicorns on the RSVP list." "Yeah, what's with kids and unicorns?" Bill said, shaking his head. "Anything interesting?" "Only a few high-ticket items that'll cover our share of the operation, no questions asked." Molly patted the bag proudly. Their ears perked up as the sounds of shrill laughter and sugar-fueled shrieks echoed through the air. Outside, a packed room of excited children were celebrating their parties, blissfully unaware of the imminent theft. Bill glanced at his watch. "Ten minutes until the MA'ers cut the cake. You know what to do?" "Like clockwork," Molly confirmed, adjusting her ninja mask. "I'll sneak in through the kitchen, put on the chef's hat while Casper here keeps watch." Bill held up a bulky, toy ghost outfit. "Yeah, I know, real subtle," Molly said, rolling her eyes. "A ghost with a Jamaican accent snatching presents. I can't wait for the 911 call." "One operates the distraction while the other one sweeps," Bill ticked off on his fingers. "We'll have the whole loot bagged before the first wink-in-the-eye drowns in frosting." Molly nodded, her lips pressed into a thin line. "Stay by the entrance, Bill. You're the eyes and ears. I'll get the gifts." As they moved into position, Molly's calm demeanor slipped. A knot formed in her stomach. This heist was supposed to be the last hurrah before retirement. One more big score and they'd quit the life of crime, sail off into the sunset, or more accurately, into a quiet little town in Costa Rica. But those presents... shiny, new, and full of dreams waiting to be smashed. She shook her head. Focus, Molly. Bill tugged at her arm, interrupting her thoughts. "Hey, you good to do this?" A theatrical smile broke across Molly's face. "Piece of cake. Or in this case, piece of icing." With a nod, they parted ways, disappearing into the dark night like shadows. The cacophony of children's laughter slowly faded as they slipped into their roles, the heist beginning in earnest. The party's merriment contrasted with the anxiety coursing through their veins, but for these seasoned thieves, it was just another job. As Molly entered the kitchen, she donned the maƮtre d's hat and apron, blending in with the chaos of party prep. Casper, or Bill, positioned himself just outside the room, listening for any potential threats. The focus and adrenaline rushed in, overtaking Molly's apprehension. This was their game, and they would see it through. The cake cutting ceremony was about to begin. Molly gave Bill the signal, and he slipped inside to secure the exits while she snatched the presents. With practiced ease, they snatched up the loot, quickly and quietly stuffing it into a pair of duffel bags, leaving no trace behind. With the presents, their newfound riches, and the final achievement in their careers in tow, they met up in the alleyway once more, petals of joy and laughter still tumbling from their ears. One last glance at the party's illuminated windows and they high-fived, the elation palpable even in the dim alley. "Well, that wasn't so bad," Bill remarked, the ghost costume now abandoned on the ground. Molly held up the loot and grinned, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "Best.Wednesday.ever." The pair laughed as they vanished into the night, a ghost and a chef trade places in their pursuit of the ultimate heist.
