Molly paced back and forth in the dimly lit motel room, her eyes darting between the window and her partner, Bill, who was sprawled on the bed, idly flipping through a newspaper. "Are you sure about this, Bill? I mean, stealing from kids? That's a new low, even for us," Molly said, biting her lower lip. Bill lowered the newspaper and fixed her with a steely gaze. "Look, Molly, we've been over this. It's not like we're stealing directly from the kids. We're just... redistributing the wealth, so to speak." Molly snorted. "Redistributing the wealth? Is that what we're calling it now?" "Hey, those rich brats don't need all those fancy gifts. We, on the other hand, could use the cash," Bill replied, sitting up and tossing the newspaper aside. Molly stopped pacing and turned to face him. "Okay, fine. Let's say I'm on board. What's the plan?" Bill grinned, his eyes lighting up with excitement. "It's simple. We pose as entertainment for the party. I'll be the clown, and you'll be my lovely assistant." "A clown? Really?" Molly raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Trust me, it's perfect. Kids love clowns, and no one will suspect a thing," Bill said, waving his hand dismissively. Molly sighed. "Alright, let's hear the rest of this brilliant plan." Bill stood up and began gesturing animatedly. "So, we arrive at the party, put on a little show to distract everyone. While I'm keeping the kids entertained, you slip away and locate the gift table." "And then what? I just grab everything and run?" Molly asked, crossing her arms. "No, no, no. We're more sophisticated than that," Bill said, shaking his head. "You'll have a large prop box. We'll swap out the real gifts for cheap knockoffs I picked up at the dollar store." Molly's eyes widened. "Wait, you've already bought fake gifts? When did you do that?" Bill shrugged. "While you were having your moral crisis earlier. Anyway, by the time anyone notices, we'll be long gone." "I don't know, Bill. This seems risky," Molly said, chewing on her thumbnail. "Come on, Molly. Where's your sense of adventure?" Bill cajoled, placing his hands on her shoulders. Molly shrugged him off. "I think I left it behind when we started considering robbing children's parties." Bill sighed dramatically. "Fine, if you're not up for it, I guess I'll just have to find another partner. Maybe someone who actually wants to make some real money." Molly glared at him. "That's low, Bill. You know I need the cash." "Then are you in or out?" Bill asked, holding out his hand. Molly hesitated for a moment before grudgingly shaking his hand. "I'm in. But if this goes south, I'm blaming you entirely." Bill grinned triumphantly. "That's my girl. Now, let's go over the details. The party starts at 2 PM..." As Bill launched into the finer points of their plan, Molly couldn't shake the feeling that they were about to make a terrible mistake. But with bills piling up and no other prospects on the horizon, she pushed her doubts aside and focused on the task at hand. After all, how hard could it be to steal from a bunch of kids?
