Molly tapped her glittering red nails on the coffee table, a clear signal for Bill to shut up and listen. The dim glow from the streetlamp outside their dingy apartment cast long shadows on the worn, yellowing wallpaper. A map of the city, freshly pinned to the wall, dominated the room, marked with a particularly dense cluster of red dots near the center. "We've been over this, Bill," she said, her voice smooth like the expensive whiskey stashed away in the kitchen cabinet, which, incidentally, she'd stolen from a 'charity' gala. "It's Children's Charity Day at the mayor's house. Prime opportunity. We're talking high-end presents. Designer clothes, the latest tech stuffed into teddy bears, the works." Bill let out a deep sigh, his eyes darting to the map, then back to Molly. His greasy, sandy blond hair curled around his forehead, refusing to be tamed. "It sounds like a kid's dream and my worst nightmare. We're talking about a horde of ankle-biters, Molly. Not to mention the security." Molly rolled her eyes, a hint of impatience creeping into her tone. "Security? Please. The mayor's too preoccupied with his own image to invest in real protection. Besides, it's a children's party. They'll have clowns and ponies, not guards and cameras." Bill rubbed his forehead, as if trying to massage a stubborn thought into submission. "What about the parents, huh? Wealthy, paranoid, bound to be packing something more than their wallets." Molly grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Ah, but that's where your job comes in. You'll be mingling with the adults, making sure they're too busy showing off their new Rolexes and Guccis to notice us." Bill raised an eyebrow. "And what will you be doing? Wearing a sparkly dress and pretending to be the tooth fairy?" "I was thinking more along the lines of a magician's assistant, but a fairy costume could be... interesting," she said, her lips curling into a conspiratorial smile. "I'll lead the kids on a treasure hunt. I can distract them with cheap tricks and a few well-placed smoke bombs. By the time they're done following the map to hidden goodies, we'll have made our exit with the real treasures." Bill snorted, his skepticism fading. "And what if we get caught? Last time we saw the inside of a jail cell, let's just say it wasn't exactly a five-star resort." Molly leaned forward, the intensity of her gaze softening the glow from the streetlamp. "We won't get caught. We never do. We've planned this to the smallest detail: timing, costumes, even the escape route. We'll be in and out before they can say 'abracadabra.'" Bill sighed, defeat creeping into his voice. "Fine, you've convinced me. But if we're doing this, we have to split the loot evenly, no funny business." Molly laughed, a melodious chime cutting through the tension-filled air. "Of course, Bill. But I have one condition. You have to wear that ridiculous pirate costume you bought for Halloween that one time. You looked positively dashing." Bill grimaced, but a faint smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. "Deal. But don't expect me to say 'arr' and 'matey' all night. Some lines shouldn't be crossed, even for a good heist." Molly clapped her hands together, cheeks flushed with excitement. "Perfect! Now, let's go over the plan one more time. We need to make sure we've covered all our bases. The great Children's Party Heist awaits!"
