Molly walked briskly across the grassy lawn of the party, her eyes scanning the colorful crowd, looking for a vulnerable moment to slip into action. She pulled her jacket closer around her, a familiar adrenaline surge running through her veins at the thought of another successful heist. She found Bill, leaning against a wooden fence, observing the loud and boisterous children, the clumps of parents studiously mingling among the decorations. "Perfect," she whispered, her eyes bright with mischief. "Found our distraction." Bill nodded, his long blond hair falling over his blue eyes. "Kids are in their tents. You bear distraction duty, I'll grab a few presents quickly." Bill smirked, draping his long, free arm over his eyes. "Your thief code is ' swiftly snatch', is it? Fine." As they closed in, the clattering of party games and excited children filled the air. A child's wide cry pierced the silence behind them, pulling their attention. "Oh boy," Bill whispered sharply. "Someone's found the tent door open." Molly whirled, taking in the scattered children rushing for the exits. "Faster," she hissed, an edge to her voice. "We've got a few seconds." Bill nodded, dashing toward the tents, his shouts a counterpoint to the chaos. Molly sprinted for the storing area, her nimble fingers quickly sorting out a few select items as she passed in the diversion. "Got it," she called out to Bill, hefting a few items wrapped up in sheets that she found cast aside. "Let's go." Bill ran up, pausing long enough to catch a bag stuffed with presents. "Finished?" "Sure, looks that way," Molly replied with a chuckle. "Now let's get the heck out of here. Remember, no one admits to stealing, not even parents can claim ignorance on this one." With an understanding nod, Bill scooped up the forgotten items. They fled the party like two shadows, slipping freely through the frenzied exodus, the children and parents in pursuit of each other, too distracted to notice the absence of their treasures. They ducked around the next corner, the stolen haul held tightly between them, grinning sheepishly at one another. "Molly, you may have done it this time," Bill teased, playfully shoving her shoulder. Molly raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in her eye. "And just what kind of comment is that? Celebrate with a dash of laughter and a sprinkle of getaway, my friend." She broke into a run, and Bill gave chase, both of them enjoying the thrill of their little dastardly deed.
