Molly and Bill crouched behind a row of bushes, peering through the leaves at the colorful chaos of the children's party in the backyard. Balloons bobbed in the breeze, and the sound of laughter filled the air. "Alright, Bill, what's the plan?" Molly whispered, her eyes fixed on the pile of presents stacked near the bouncy castle. "Simple," Bill replied, adjusting his black beanie. "We blend in, grab the loot, and get out. Easy peasy." "Blend in? How exactly are we supposed to do that?" Molly asked, raising an eyebrow. "Costumes," Bill said, pulling two clown outfits from his backpack. "We go in as entertainment." Molly stared at the garish red and yellow fabric. "Clowns? Really? You know I hate clowns." "Do you want the presents or not?" Bill retorted, thrusting the costume at her. Molly sighed and took the outfit. "Fine. But if I get a pie in the face, I'm blaming you." Bill grinned. "Deal. Now, let's get changed." A few minutes later, they emerged from the bushes, looking like the most mismatched pair of clowns ever. Molly's wig was askew, and Bill's oversized shoes made him wobble with every step. "Remember, act natural," Bill said, trying to keep his balance. "Natural? We're clowns, Bill. There's nothing natural about this," Molly muttered. They approached the party, and a group of kids immediately swarmed them, squealing with delight. "Look, clowns!" one of the children shouted. "Great, now we're the main attraction," Molly said through gritted teeth. "Just go with it," Bill whispered, forcing a smile. "Hey kids, who wants to see a magic trick?" The children cheered, and Bill pulled a deck of cards from his pocket. As he fumbled through a basic card trick, Molly edged closer to the presents. "Pick a card, any card," Bill said, holding out the deck to a wide-eyed boy. Molly reached the pile of gifts and began discreetly stuffing them into a large sack. She glanced back at Bill, who was now juggling three rubber balls, much to the kids' delight. "Almost done," she mouthed to him. Bill nodded and tossed the balls into the air, catching them with exaggerated clumsiness. "Oops! Butterfingers!" The kids laughed, and Molly tied the sack shut, hefting it over her shoulder. She gave Bill a thumbs-up. "Alright, kids, that's all for now," Bill said, bowing dramatically. "We have to go make more kids laugh." "Aww, do you have to go?" a little girl asked, pouting. "Sorry, sweetie," Molly said, patting the girl's head. "Duty calls." They made their way to the gate, trying to look casual despite the bulging sack of presents. Just as they were about to slip away, a voice called out. "Hey, wait a minute!" Molly and Bill froze, turning slowly to see a stern-faced woman marching toward them. "Who hired you two?" she demanded. "Uh, the parents," Bill stammered. "They wanted to surprise the kids." The woman narrowed her eyes. "Funny, because I'm the party planner, and I didn't hire any clowns." Molly and Bill exchanged panicked glances. "Well, this is awkward," Molly said, inching toward the gate. "Run!" Bill shouted, grabbing Molly's hand. They bolted through the gate, the sack of presents bouncing wildly. Behind them, the woman yelled for security, but Molly and Bill were already sprinting down the street, laughing breathlessly. "Next time, let's just rob a bank," Molly panted. "Deal," Bill agreed, grinning. "But you have to wear the clown suit."
