Molly crouched behind a meticulously trimmed hedge, her eyes scanning the vibrant chaos of the children's party unfolding in the backyard. She turned to Bill, who was fiddling with the strap on his ski mask, and whispered, "You know, for a bunch of six-year-olds, they've got some pretty sweet loot over there." Bill's eyes lit up as he surveyed the scene. "I reckon that piñata alone is worth our time," he chuckled, pointing at the colorful donkey dangling from a tree branch. "Okay, Bill, here's the plan," Molly started, her voice a mix of excitement and conspiracy. "We wait for the kids to start their treasure hunt, and while they're distracted, we swoop in, grab the gifts, and vanish faster than you can say 'Happy Birthday.'" Bill scratched his stubble, a grin spreading across his face. "I like it. But what about the parents? They're like hawks at these things." Molly pulled out a pair of novelty sunglasses and a striped sun hat from her bag. "That's where the disguises come in. We blend in, act like we're part of the entertainment. You're gonna love this, Bill. I got us costumes." "Costumes?" Bill raised an eyebrow, skeptical but intrigued. "Yep. I'm going to be the magician's assistant, and you," she said, tossing him a plush bunny costume, "are going to be the world's most lovable mascot." Bill held the costume at arm's length, his expression a cocktail of disbelief and horror. "You can't be serious. There's no way I'm fitting into this thing." "Oh, come on, Bill. It's perfect. No one will suspect the Easter Bunny of thievery," Molly said, her tone convincing. With a resigned sigh, Bill began to awkwardly stuff himself into the bunny suit. "I can't believe I'm doing this," he mumbled through the fabric. Molly, now donned in a sparkling magician's assistant outfit, checked her watch. "It's go time, Bill. The treasure hunt is starting, and we need to be in position." They crept closer to the party, slipping into their roles with surprising ease. Molly flashed her most dazzling smile, weaving through the crowd of children, while Bill, now fully encased in his fluffy disguise, hopped clumsily beside her, waving to the kids. "Remember, we need to be quick and silent," Molly whispered as they neared the gift table. "Silent? In this getup? I'll be lucky if I don't topple over," Bill grumbled, his voice muffled by the bunny head. The children, engrossed in their hunt for hidden treasures, paid no mind to the ostensible party entertainers. Molly and Bill reached the table, their hearts pounding in unison. "On three," Molly murmured. "One... two... three!" In a flurry of movement, they began to swipe the presents, stuffing them into large, seemingly bottomless magician's hats. The operation was going smoothly until a sharp, inquisitive voice cut through the air. "Hey! What are you doing with those presents?" Molly and Bill froze, turning to see a small girl with pigtails and a determined scowl standing behind them, hands on hips. Bill's ears flopped as he turned his head, the girl's accusing eyes locked onto his bunny face. Molly, thinking quickly, dropped to one knee to meet the girl's gaze. "Oh, little one, we're not taking the presents," she said in a comforting tone. "We're just making sure they're safe for the birthday boy. You know, from the naughty piñata over there." She pointed at the piñata, now swaying ominously in the breeze. The girl looked from Molly to the piñata, her suspicion waning. "Okay... but be careful. My brother said the piñata is really a monster in disguise." Molly winked. "We'll be extra careful, don't worry." With the girl appeased, Molly and Bill finished their task and, with a nod to the girl, made their escape, blending into the crowd as they exited the party, their hearts racing with the thrill of the heist.
