Molly glanced at her watch as she sat in the parked car across the street from the children's party venue. "Okay, Bill," she said, her voice steady despite the butterflies in her stomach. "The party's supposed to end in twenty minutes. Are you ready?" Bill, who was sitting shotgun, nodded and adjusted his ski mask. He looked more nervous than usual – probably because they were about to break into a children's party, which was a new low even for seasoned criminals like them. "Yeah, just tell me when it's go time," he muttered. Molly took a deep breath and reached for the car door handle. Before she could open it, a group of giggling children came stumbling out of the party venue, clutching balloons and cellophane-wrapped presents. Molly's heart sank; they had timed their heist perfectly but there were simply too many children leaving at once. They would have to wait for another group to exit before making their move. Five minutes passed, then ten. Molly kept an eye on the party through the tinted car window, her stomach churning with anticipation mixed with nerves. Finally, another group of children emerged from the venue, their faces still aglow from cakes and ice cream. Molly glanced at Bill, who nodded eagerly, and she got out of the car, leaving it running on the quiet street. They crossed the road, trying to look casual like any other parents picking up their kids from a birthday party. But as they approached the entrance, Molly could feel Bill's hands trembling with excitement - or was it fear? She gave him a reassuring squeeze on the arm and together they approached the open door. Inside, the party was winding down. A few parents were already collecting their coats and phones, while others helped their children clean up after themselves. The DJ, a jolly man with a red nose and a Santa hat, was packing up his speakers and mic, oblivious to the would-be thieves standing in the doorway. Molly glanced around, looking for the perfect opportunity to make their move. She spotted it when a group of parents gathered around the party host, engrossed in conversation. She nudged Bill and pointed towards the giant present table in the corner of the room. "Now!" she whispered. Bill nodded, his eyes fixed on the glimmering presents beneath the twinkling fairy lights. He grabbed a chair from one of the empty tables and positioned it under a decorative Santa sack dangling from the ceiling. Molly watched as he climbed up onto the chair, his already high heels making it easier for him to reach the sack. She held her breath as he stretched out his arms and grasped the sack, trying to avoid making any noise. Slowly, carefully, Bill pulled the sack down towards him, almost losing his balance in the process. But he managed to catch himself just in time, and within seconds he was standing on the ground again, a grin spreading across his ski masked face. He held up the heavy sack for Molly to see. "We did it!" he exclaimed. Molly let out a sigh of relief and started gathering up the presents scattered around the room. "Come on, Bill. Let's get out of here before someone notices." She grabbed his hand and led him towards the door, trying not to giggle as their feet squished against the discarded streamers and balloons. Outside, the cold night air hit them like a ton of bricks. Molly shivered, relishing the rush of adrenaline still coursing through her veins. "You know," she said as they climbed back into the car, "this might just be the best job we've ever done."
