Molly glanced up from the half-eaten slice of pizza in her hands, the glow of the flickering neon lights bathing her face. "You're not serious, are you? Breaking into a kid's party to steal Christmas gifts? That's beyond low, Bill." Her partner in crime shrugged, taking a swig of his beer. "Hey, every year it gets harder to find suckers to rob. This is easy pickings. The kiddies won't even notice their toys gone until after we're long gone." Molly sighed, tossing the crust aside. "I don't know... I may be a thief, but this feels wrong. Robbing from kids, on Christmas no less." Bill leaned in close. "Oh, boo hoo. What's the matter, Molly? Losing your nerve? Pretty soon you'll be handing out candy canes to orphans." He laughed mockingly. Molly glowered, her mind already made up. "No, I'm just not that desperate. Find your own damn presents to steal, Bill. I'm out of this one." She stood abruptly, grabbing her coat. Bill snarled, slamming his fist on the table. "You ungrateful little--" Molly cut him off with a withering look. "Save it. You're on your own. If you needed a friend, you should have picked a better line of work." She turned on her heel and strode out the door, leaving Bill to stew in his anger and the stale beer. Molly didn't look back as she hailed a cab, her conscience already feeling a little lighter. Maybe crime wasn't the career path for her anymore. Maybe it was time for a change. She leaned back in the leather seat as the cab took off, contemplating her next move.
