In the shadowy alley behind the community center, Molly and Bill huddled over a crumpled blueprint, the faint scent of popcorn and sugar wafting from the children's party in full swing inside. Molly, a petite woman with a penchant for vintage dresses and a knack for lock-picking, traced the route with her finger. "We've got the back entrance, then it's a straight shot to the present table. In and out, like a thief in the night." Bill, a lanky man with a nervous tic and a talent for distraction, adjusted his bow tie. "You sure about this, Mol? Stealing from kids? It's a bit... low, even for us." Molly rolled her eyes. "They're not going to miss them. Half those presents are probably regifts anyway. Besides, it's not like we're taking their lollipops. We're just... redistributing the wealth." Bill sighed, running a hand through his thinning hair. "I just don't want to end up on some milk carton, you know?" Molly grinned, patting his cheek. "Aw, Bill. You're adorable when you're anxious. Now, let's go. I'll pick the lock, you create a distraction." They slipped into the back entrance, the sound of laughter and music filling the air. Molly set to work on the lock, her tools clinking softly as she manipulated the tumblers. Bill, meanwhile, scanned the room, his eyes landing on a group of teenagers gathered around a pinata. "Molly," he hissed, "I've got an idea. But it's... risky." Molly glanced back, her eyebrow raised. "Riskier than stealing from children?" Bill swallowed hard. "I'm going to set off the pinata." Molly blinked. "The... pinata?" Bill nodded, already moving towards the group. "Trust me. It's going to be... explosive." As Bill approached the pinata, Molly slipped inside, her heart pounding. She could hear the commotion starting, Bill's voice rising above the crowd. "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, gather 'round! I've got a surprise for you!" Molly reached the present table, her hands moving quickly as she stuffed gifts into her bag. She could hear the pinata's paper shell giving way, the candy spilling out, and the children cheering. Suddenly, a loud pop echoed through the room, followed by a collective gasp. Molly froze, her heart in her throat. What had Bill done? She slipped out of the room, her bag heavy with stolen gifts. As she emerged into the alley, she found Bill leaning against the wall, a sheepish grin on his face. "Well?" she asked, breathless. Bill held up a small, smoldering stick. "I may have filled the pinata with firecrackers." Molly stared at him, then burst into laughter. "Only you, Bill. Only you." As they melted into the night, the sound of sirens wailed in the distance, signaling the end of their heist and the start of their next adventure.
