Molly drummed her fingers on the weathered picnic table, her eyes darting around the deserted park. Bill slouched across from her, absently picking at a splinter in the wood. "So, what's the plan?" Molly asked, leaning forward conspiratorially. Bill's eyes lit up. "It's foolproof. We hit little Timmy's birthday bash at exactly 3 PM. That's when they'll be cutting the cake." Molly raised an eyebrow. "And how do you know that?" "I, uh, might have stolen the invitation from Mrs. Johnson's mailbox," Bill admitted sheepishly. Molly rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress a grin. "Of course you did. Alright, go on." Bill pulled out a crumpled napkin covered in childish scribbles. "Here's the layout. We enter through the back gate, sneak past the bouncy castle, and make our way to the gift table." "Wait," Molly interrupted, squinting at the napkin. "Is that a crayon drawing?" "I had to blend in at the playground to case the joint," Bill explained defensively. "Now, focus!" Molly stifled a laugh and nodded for him to continue. "Once we reach the gift table, you create a distraction while I stuff the loot into this," Bill said, producing a comically oversized sack from his backpack. "And what kind of distraction did you have in mind?" Molly asked, her tone skeptical. Bill's eyes twinkled mischievously. "I thought you could dress up as a clown and tell some jokes." Molly's jaw dropped. "A clown? Are you out of your mind?" "Come on, it's perfect!" Bill insisted. "Who would suspect a clown at a kid's party?" "I don't know, maybe the fact that they didn't hire a clown?" Molly retorted. Bill waved his hand dismissively. "Details, details. Trust me, it'll work like a charm." Molly pinched the bridge of her nose, exhaling slowly. "Fine. But I'm not wearing a red nose." "Deal," Bill said, grinning from ear to ear. "Now, once we've got the goods, we make our grand escape through the neighbor's yard." "And how exactly do we do that without being seen?" Molly asked. Bill's grin widened. "That's the best part. We use the zip line I set up between the tree houses." Molly blinked in disbelief. "You set up a zip line? When? How?" "I have my ways," Bill said mysteriously, waggling his eyebrows. Molly shook her head, trying to process the absurdity of it all. "Let me get this straight. We're going to crash a kid's birthday party, dressed as a clown, steal a bunch of presents, and escape via a secret zip line?" "Exactly!" Bill exclaimed, clapping his hands together. "It's brilliant, isn't it?" Molly couldn't help but laugh. "It's certainly... something. But what if we get caught?" Bill's face turned serious. "Then we implement Plan B." "And what's Plan B?" Molly asked, almost afraid to hear the answer. Bill leaned in close, his voice dropping to a whisper. "We join the party and blend in with the other kids." Molly stared at him for a long moment before bursting into laughter. "You're insane, you know that?" Bill grinned, clearly pleased with himself. "That's why we make such a great team." As they continued to hash out the details of their ridiculous plan, Molly couldn't help but wonder how she'd gotten herself into this mess. But looking at Bill's enthusiastic face, she realized she wouldn't have it any other way.
