Molly and Bill crouched behind a row of bushes, peering through the leaves at the colorful chaos of the children's party. Balloons bobbed in the breeze, and the sound of laughter filled the air. "Alright, Bill, what's the plan?" Molly whispered, her eyes fixed on the pile of presents stacked under a tree. Bill adjusted his cap and grinned. "Simple. We blend in, grab the loot, and get out. Easy peasy." Molly raised an eyebrow. "Blend in? We're not exactly dressed for a party." Bill looked down at his black turtleneck and cargo pants. "Details, details. We'll improvise. You see that clown over there?" Molly followed his gaze to a clown making balloon animals. "Yeah, what about him?" "We take his costumes. No one will suspect a thing." Molly snorted. "You want us to dress up as clowns? That's your big plan?" Bill shrugged. "Got a better idea?" Molly sighed. "Fine. But if I end up with a red nose, I'm blaming you." They crept around the perimeter of the party, keeping low and out of sight. As they approached the clown, Bill pulled out a small, handheld mirror. "What's that for?" Molly asked. "Distraction," Bill said, flashing the mirror to catch the clown's attention. The clown, seeing the glint, wandered over, curious. "Hey there, folks! Want a balloon animal?" Bill grinned. "Actually, we were hoping for something a bit more... festive." Before the clown could react, Molly and Bill pounced, quickly tying him up with his own balloon animals and stashing him behind a bush. "Sorry, pal," Molly said, pulling on the clown's oversized shoes. "It's for a good cause." Bill donned the clown wig and nose, adjusting his new attire. "How do I look?" "Ridiculous," Molly said, but she couldn't help but laugh. "Let's get this over with." They sauntered back into the party, trying to blend in with the other entertainers. Molly juggled a few balls she found lying around, while Bill honked a horn and did his best to look cheerful. "Remember, act natural," Bill muttered through his forced smile. "Natural? We're clowns, Bill. Nothing about this is natural," Molly replied, juggling faster. They made their way to the pile of presents, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible. A group of kids ran up to them, giggling. "Make us a balloon animal!" one of the kids demanded. Bill fumbled with a balloon, twisting it into something vaguely resembling a dog. "Here you go, kid." The child looked at the balloon, then at Bill. "That's the worst dog I've ever seen." Molly stifled a laugh. "Focus, Bill. We're here for the presents." They started loading the gifts into a large sack, trying to work quickly without drawing too much attention. Just as they were about to make their escape, a voice rang out. "Hey! What are you doing with those presents?" Molly and Bill froze. A parent was marching towards them, looking suspicious. "Uh, we're just... relocating them," Molly said, thinking fast. "For a game. A treasure hunt!" The parent narrowed their eyes. "A treasure hunt, huh? I didn't hear anything about that." Bill stepped in, honking his horn. "Surprise! It's a new addition to the party. Keeps the kids entertained!" The parent seemed to consider this, then nodded. "Alright, but make it quick." As soon as the parent turned away, Molly and Bill bolted, dragging the sack of presents behind them. They ducked behind the bushes, panting. "That was too close," Molly said, catching her breath. Bill grinned, holding up a brightly wrapped gift. "But we did it. Happy birthday to us." Molly shook her head, laughing. "Next time, let's stick to something simpler. Like robbing a bank." Bill chuckled. "Deal. But you have to admit, this was pretty fun." Molly smiled. "Yeah, it was. Now let's get out of here before someone notices the clown is missing."
