"Ah, the smell of freshly baked croissants," a voice sighed as the bakery door chimed. "Good morning, Annabelle," the other voice replied, cheerily. "Your usual?" "Please, Martha. Can't resist your delicious pastries." Martha chuckled, sliding a warm croissant into a paper bag. "I heard about the break-in at the old Victorian last night." Annabelle's eyes widened. "You don't say! Was anything stolen?" "Not that I've heard," Martha said, handing over the change. "But the new tenant, Mr. Higgins, found the back door wide open this morning."
