Molly paced back and forth in front of the kiddie party supply store, her eyes fixed on the bright balloons and streamers in the window. Bill lounged against the wall, watching her with an amused grin. "What's the plan, Moll?" he asked, pushing off from the wall to fall into step beside her. "We go in, we grab the presents, we get out," Molly said, her voice low and focused. "That's it? That's the whole plan?" Bill raised an eyebrow. "What do you want, a PowerPoint presentation?" Molly shot back. "I want to know how we're going to get past the screaming hordes of sugar-high toddlers and their helicopter parents," Bill said, dodging a stray shopping cart. "We'll blend in," Molly said, a mischievous glint in her eye. "We'll dress up as clowns." Bill's face went pale. "You're kidding me." "I am completely serious," Molly said, deadpan. "I've got the wigs and the nose putty in my bag right now." Bill shook his head. "We're going to get caught. We're going to get caught and arrested and sent to prison for the rest of our lives." "Come on, Bill, it'll be fun!" Molly said, tugging on his arm. "We'll be like a pair of reverse Santas. Instead of bringing joy and presents, we'll be taking them away." "That's not funny, Molly," Bill said, but a small smile played on his lips. "Okay, fine," Molly said, crossing her arms. "What's your plan, then?" "Well," Bill said, "I was thinking we could create a diversion. You know, like a magician's flash bomb or something." "A flash bomb? At a kiddie party?" Molly's voice rose in outrage. "You want to give those poor children PTSD?" "It's just an idea," Bill said defensively. "It's a terrible idea," Molly said, scowling. "My clown idea is better." Bill sighed. "Fine. We'll do the clown thing. But if we get caught, I'm blaming you." Molly grinned, triumphant. "That's the spirit, Bill! Now let's go get some oversized shoes and a squirt gun." As they walked away from the party supply store, Bill turned to Molly and said, "You know, I never thought I'd say this, but I think I'm actually going to enjoy stealing from a bunch of toddlers." Molly chuckled, a low, throaty sound. "That's what I like to hear, Bill. Now let's go make some childhood memories...bad."
