Molly poured over the schematics of the party venue, her eyes scanning the blueprints for any hidden security features. Bill leaned against the counter, sipping a lukewarm coffee from the diner down the street. "So, Molly, what's the plan here?" Bill asked, eyeing the diagrams. "We're hitting a bunch of five-year-olds' birthday party. I mean, that's like the ultimate soft touch." "We're not doing this for the cash, Bill," Molly said, her voice sarcastic. "We're doing this for the sheer ridiculousness of it. I mean, come on. A children's party. It's like the thieves' version of a buffet table." Bill chuckled. "Yeah, but what's the score on the presents? How many does this kid have stashed away?" Molly consulted the schematics again. "According to this, we're talking at least two dozen gifts under the tree. Possibly as high as thirty, if we're counting the whole 'secret Santa for your BFF's cat' thing." Bill whistled. "Thirty? That's like hitting the jackpot, baby. What's the play?" "Same as always," Molly said, a smile spreading across her face. "I'll sneak in through the ventilation shaft, make my way to the tree, and swap out the presents for our... 'special' replacements." "Your special replacements," Bill said, making air quotes. "Those being?" "Gift cards to Chuck E. Cheese. I figure the kid will be too traumatized to even care about the nice toys." Bill laughed. "You're a genius, Molly. Pure, unadulterated genius." "Thanks, Bill," Molly said, collecting her things. "Now, let's get down to business. Timing's key here. We need to get in, grab the gifts, and get out before the parentals notice anything." "All right, all right," Bill said, clapping his hands together. "Down to business. First things first: we need to know exactly when the kid blows out the candles on the cake. Any ideas on how to get that info?" "I've got a guy," Molly said, a sly look crossing her face. "He's a janitor at the party venue. He gets asked to fill in for the bounce castle guy whenever he calls in sick. I'll get him to do some snooping for us." Bill nodded. "Perfect. And once we've got the lowdown, we hit it. Tonight. At midnight." "Sounds like a plan, Bill," Molly said, slipping her plans under her jacket. Bill grinned. "Time to go make some kindergartners' dreams come true. Or, at least, come crashing down in a spectacular display of presents and disappointment."
