Molly and Bill huddled in the cramped café, sipping on lukewarm coffee as they pored over the blueprints of the community center. The flyer on the bulletin board had read "Benny's Birthday Bash: 10am – 2pm, Games! Prizes! Cake!", but to the two thieves, it screamed "Opportunity of a Lifetime!" Molly's eyes sparkled as she circled a ventilation shaft on the map. "We can get in through here. The ducts will give us access to the main hall." Bill scratched his balding head, his brow furrowed in concern. "You know, we're not exactly the most agile people. I'm not sure I fit in those ducts." Molly waved her hand dismissively. "You'll be fine, Bill. It's not like we're trying to squeeze into a cat burglar's onesie. We'll make it work." Bill grumbled, "I'm only doing this because I have a niece who loves glittery hair clips. If I can get my hands on a stash of those, she'll think I'm the coolest uncle ever." Molly grinned, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I'm in it for the presents, Bill. I mean, can you think of a more concentrated collection of awesome toys? It's like a Christmas wonderland in there." Their plan was to pose as party entertainers, infiltrating the event by offering to lead a round of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey. Once the kids were distracted, they would slip into the vents and make their way to the gift table. It was a risk, but the potential payoff was too enticing to resist. As they finalized their strategy, a harried young mother, juggling a toddler and a wailing infant, stumbled into the café. Molly and Bill exchanged a look, and without a word, they knew they had to play it cool. They buried their faces in their cups, pretending to be two friends discussing the latest sports game. The mom, oblivious to their true intentions, plopped down beside them and began to order a complicated coffee drink. Bill, trying to distract himself, muttered under his breath, "How many kids are we talking about, do you think?" Molly kept her tone low and even, "The flyer said it's a small party, but 'small' is subjective. We're looking at twenty, maybe thirty, kids and their chaperones." Bill's eyes widened in alarm, and he mouthed, "What if we get caught?" Molly's response was a sly smile, and she whispered, "We'll make a break for the cake table. Kids love a good cake chase." The mom, finished with her order, smiled at them and said, "You two seem like a lovely couple. Are you here for the birthday party?" Molly and Bill exchanged a panicked glance, before Molly, quick-thinking, launched into a ridiculous story about being there for a "Method Acting Coffee Tasting" workshop. The mom looked puzzled, but politely nodded and grabbed her drink, leaving the two thieves to breathe a sigh of relief. As they watched her hurry out of the café, Bill turned to Molly and whispered, "You're a genius. I'm starting to think this whole 'stealing presents from a kids' party' thing might just be crazy enough to work."
