The dimly lit conference room was thick with the scent of stale coffee and desperation. Molly, a petite woman with a mischievous grin, leaned back in her chair, her eyes scanning the whiteboard where Bill had scribbled out their plan in garish, glittery letters. "So, let me get this straight," Molly said, her voice a sarcastic drawl. "We're going in as... clowns?" Bill, a hulking figure with a handlebar mustache, flashed a defensive smile. "Hey, it's the perfect disguise! Who's gonna suspect a thing, right?" Molly chuckled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I think you mean 'who's gonna care'?" Bill shrugged. "Same thing. And besides, we'll be the coolest clowns anyone's ever seen. I've got the face paint and the pom-poms right here." He rummaged through his bag, producing a can of bright pink face paint and a handful of fluffy pom-poms. Molly shook her head, a laugh threatening to escape. "You're something else, Bill." The door to the conference room opened with a soft creak, and a nervous-looking young kid poked his head inside. "Uh, guys? Are you, um, practicing your birthday party magic tricks or something?" Molly glanced over at Bill, a look of mock panic crossing her face. "Oh, no, no, no! We're totally rehearsing our tax audit skills. Totally." The kid looked confused, then shrugged and backed out of the room, muttering something about needing to refill his coffee cup. As the door swung shut behind him, Molly turned back to Bill, a sly smile spreading across her face. "You know, I'm kind of excited about this plan. I love a good kid's party. The truffle cake, the sugar overload... it's like a crime scene waiting to happen." Bill grinned, a glint in his eye. "And the presents! Oh, man, the presents are going to be like a Christmas gift to ourselves." Molly snorted, her eyes fluttering shut in mock disdain. "You're impossible. And I love it." The two thieves sat in comfortable silence for a moment, the only sound the ticking of the fluorescent lights overhead. Then Molly sat forward, her eyes snapping open. "Okay, so let's review the plan. We get in as clowns, navigate through the bouncing castle chaos, and snag all the presents before the kids even notice we're there." Bill nodded, his mustache jiggling as he spoke. "Got it. And then we make our escape, leaving behind only a trail of glitter and broken dreams." Molly chuckled, her grin spreading wide. "Sounds like a plan to me, Bill. You know, for a bunch of professional thieves, we're pretty much a bunch of big kids ourselves." Bill raised an eyebrow, a sly smile creeping across his face. "Hey, being a big kid is where it's at. And we're going to pull off the biggest score of our careers." The air was thick with their anticipation, heavy with the promise of sugar and fun and thievery.
