Molly, a lanky redhead, was perched on the edge of their rundown motel room's bed, a mischievous grin spreading across her freckled face. "Bill, I've found our next job." Bill, her stocky, balding partner in crime, looked up from his newspaper, eyebrows raised. "Oh yeah? What are we talking about? Jewelry store? Bank? Art gallery?" "Children's party," Molly declared, her eyes sparkling with amusement. Bill blinked, then laughed, a deep belly laugh that shook the entire bed. "You're kidding, right?" "Nope." Molly tossed a colorful pamphlet onto Bill's lap. "It's the mayor's kid's birthday. The whole town's chipping in. Presents galore." Bill picked up the pamphlet, scanning it skeptically. "You want us to steal from kids, Molly?" "Think of it as redistribution of wealth," Molly said, leaning back on her elbows. "Besides, these kids get more toys in one day than most get in a year." Bill sighed, running a hand over his thinning hair. "Okay, walk me through this. How do we pull off this... unusual heist?" Molly sat up, her eyes alight with excitement. "We go in as entertainers. I'll be the magician, you'll be the clown." Bill groaned. "I hate clowns, Molly. You know that." "Exactly!" Molly grinned. "No one will suspect a grumpy clown. You'll be perfect." Bill rolled his eyes but didn't protest further. "Fine. So, we're in. Then what?" "We scope out the presents, figure out how to make them disappear without anyone noticing," Molly explained, her hands gesturing wildly. "Then, when the cake comes out, we make our move." Bill frowned. "The cake? Why the cake?" "Everyone's focused on the cake, Bill," Molly said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "No one's watching the presents." Bill nodded slowly, a grudging respect in his eyes. "Okay, okay. I see where you're going with this. But what about our exit strategy?" Molly grinned wider. "Ever seen a clown car, Bill?" Bill looked at her for a moment before bursting into laughter again. "You're insane, Molly. Absolutely insane." Molly chuckled, hopping off the bed. "But you love it. Now come on, we've got a party to crash." Bill shook his head, a smile tugging at his lips as he followed Molly out the door. "I must be insane too," he muttered, but there was a spring in his step that hadn't been there before. Despite his reservations, he was already looking forward to their most ridiculous heist yet.
