Molly and Bill stood outside the imposing gates of the stately mansion, discreetly surveying the premises from beneath the cover of a lush garden façade. The sprawling estate was the home of Mrs. nephos, Boston's esteemed philanthropist and host of tonight's extravagant children's party. The indemnity insurance on the expensive kid's gifts was enough to make any professional heist thief salivate. But Molly and Bill were the crème de la crème of the criminal underworld, the top dogs of thievery. Picking a lock was as easy for them as inhaling. "Ready?" asked Molly, looking at her accomplice with a glint in her eye and a set of sleek, thieving tools in hand. Bill yawned in boredom. "Honestly, you know me. Besides, this is child's play compared to the big Nord rig we hit last week." "Yeah," whispered Molly. "Yeah what?" Bill's eyes narrowed. "Maybe we shouldn't have hit the Nord ship three weeks ago." "What? You un slut thought that was too much for us?" Bill's brow furrowed in utter confusion. His hand subconsciously searched his body for the battery of tools rattling around in his coat pockets. "Oh, not the tools." Molly snapped out of it. "of course you're a proper safe cracker, I'm just, I'm just worried that the backyard might be slippery with dew." Bill considered this. "Dew? Eh, good to have aspirations." He rolled his shoulders and dollar signs flashed in his pupils. "Seriously though, we're anonymous arsonists now. Let's think big! Yeah?" The haul could rob a children's party blind and let us retire to the Canary Islands or something.) "I'm not retiring, I need too be near water, see?" "Oh right… " Bill was distracted by a flash of colour coming from the garden. A wrought iron fence surrounded the eerie property. Feverishedly manicured hedges lined a neatly paved walkway leading up to the sprawling marble mansion. The duzmas pathway was illuminated by ornate brass sunducture lights. Bill squinted and held up a hand to shield his eyes from the blinding glow. "I'd swear I saw something." He sniffed. "You feel it?" "Nope." Molly groaned. She preferred the cover of darkness and hated the feeling of her hands being completely focused on not slipping. She took off her jacket and casually tucked it over her arm. "There's a lot of noise coming from inside …. Lots of people." "She's throwing a big party for poor street children, you know." "That's what makes this such a large payday." Bill couldn't help himself and smirked gleefully. "Well, we've got to make that party memorable." "Note, Bill? Let's not be gratuitous about being thieves, don't you think?" "Are you worried I'm going to let them catch us?" "Yes! " "Oh, I really doubt it!" responded Bill, shaking his handsome head in a way that made Molly ever so slightly want to exclaim "a good looking thief." "I understand your concern, but you can trust me - I'll always be the sharper of the sharper points in the sharper edge on your side of the rope." "Yeah." "Yeah what?" "Yeah," repeated Molly. "You're the best shatter out there." "Thanks." "It's true. You're like a shatter of dynamite, always striking when least expected." "I'll take that as an insult." "I meant it as a compliment! A rare shatter that sets itself apart by being a cut above the rest." "Now you're trying to be smooth, idiot." Bill's smile softened. Molly looked away with a fake, annoyed grimace, her irrascible expression strained. "But I'm serious, Bill! No one would ever expect us to hit the big bash tonight." "Then it throws the focus onto other details and removes from how we carry out the details." "Exactly!" "Wha—?" He blinked. "Um… you're being too serious, my dear partner. The trick is that we have to be deftly suave even when we are stealing, not look for praise and popularity." "You're right," Molly admitted sheepishly. "For that reason, I'd say this is going to be the biggest haul of our lives." "Yeah." "Ya —" "Yeah Bill," she interrupted. "It's gonna be big." He smiled. They're both aroused now at the thoughts of the future wealth, and prepped up to vow their thieving spirit. There is no safer safe, no tighter locked door on the planet that is now going to become an unlocked in their ausbildung as master thieves will soon unleash its paternity secrets and carve each lyospherical code to immortalise its shine. Molly stood in front of the large wrought iron doors, the wrought iron outer fences drilling into Bill, not even batting an eye when he sits next to her, then rebuilt the countenance of a calm bandit with till five seconds to land her against the wall. "I get it. They're taking orders, say the words of a man who has studied multimillionaire rich tyrants, but who, frankly, doesn't look that way." Bill narrowed his eyes. The width of Bill's body matched Molly's and he was a head taller. She spun around and grabbed his belt and yanked hard. "Molly?" "Are you ready? Do you know what this is?" "Yes." "Do you want to know what it might be?" asked Molly. "You've got to give me some kind of clue!" complained Bill. "And I know better than to ask you." "Then guess!" "Uh -- For the sake of argument -- I would say this is a simple adventure." "Oh, is that right?" Bill could do nothing but snort when Molly punched his chest lightly before replacing it back into the proper position. "Go!" With one push of the checkered door she had long been contemplating about her $1000 safety deposit box at the bank, Molly began their gears into motion, and she couldn't wait for how this party would break.
