Molly adjusted her oversized sunglasses and scanned the bustling street. The sun was bright, and the tables at the outdoor cafe were filled with patrons enjoying their afternoon espressos. She spotted Bill across the street, leaning against a brick wall, looking at his phone. She waved him over. “Bill, over here,” she said, motioning with her hand. Bill slid into the chair opposite her, his eyes scanning the crowd. “You sure this is a good place to discuss our plans?” “Relax, Bill. No one here cares about us. We’re just two ordinary people having a casual chat on a sunny day.” Bill leaned in, lowering his voice. “Alright, so how are we going to pull this off? Breaking into a children’s party is not exactly our usual M.O.” Molly chuckled. “It’s perfect, actually. Everyone’s guard will be down. They’ll be too busy watching the kids and the entertainment. We slip in, grab the presents, and slip out. Easy as pie.” Bill raised an eyebrow. “Easy? There’s bound to be security. And what about the parents? They’re not going to just let us waltz off with their kids’ gifts.” Molly took a sip of her cappuccino, licking the foam off her lips thoughtfully. “That’s why we need a distraction. Something flashy enough to draw everyone’s attention.” “Like what?” Molly grinned. “A clown. Everyone loves a good clown.” Bill groaned. “A clown? Seriously?” “Yes, seriously. You’ll be the clown. You’re good at that.” “Gee, thanks.” Molly ignored his sarcasm. “Look, you distract everyone with your amazing juggling and balloon animals, while I sneak into the house and grab the presents. We’ll be in and out before anyone knows what’s happening.” Bill sighed. “Fine, but if I get caught, I’m blaming you.” “Fair enough. Now, about the security.” Bill leaned back, crossing his arms. “I did a little reconnaissance. There’s a guy at the door and another one making rounds in the yard. They’re big, but they’re not exactly professionals. We can handle them.” Molly nodded. “Good. We’ll need to time this perfectly. When’s the best time for the clown act?” Bill thought for a moment. “The party’s at two. Kids will be hyped up on sugar by three. That’s when we hit them. Parents will be frazzled, and the kids will be bouncing off the walls.” Molly smiled. “Perfect. The clown act starts at three, and I’ll make my move. We meet back at the van by three-thirty. Got it?” Bill nodded. “Got it. But what if something goes wrong?” Molly shrugged. “Improvise. You’re good at that. Just keep them laughing, and I’ll do the rest.” Bill grinned. “You know, Molly, sometimes I think you’re the crazy one.” Molly laughed. “That’s why we make a good team. Now, let’s get out of here before someone recognizes us.” They stood up to leave, blending seamlessly into the crowd.
